I feel like a broken record with many of my posts, but I don't agree we NEED to trade one of the kids to acquire said dman.

we're not going after a franchise weber type, but more a very solid two way top 4 guy. (some of the ilk have been mentioned like alzner, bogosian etc) Not only are these guys generally not acquired through star for star type trades, but the tradeable assets we have fit the bill of what it generally takes.

1st, two 2nds, prv, gagner, hemsky, klefbom, marincin, gernat, 2014 1st etc etc

won't happen. he said clearly in his interview once he got the gm job, he ain't trading no kids unless it's an absolute overpayment. at some point, you have to trade quality for quality.

EDM needs a #1D man. Yak and Eberle being two first line RWs, it makes sense to trade from a position of strength. I'd prefer Hall, RNH, Ebs, Yak, Schultz all stay long term, but if MacT did the right trade involving one of Eberle or Yak I wouldn't be pissed

if teams didn't have to trade a 'core' or 'star' player to acuire; rick nash, ilya kovalchuk, chris pronger twice, joe thornton, marian gaborik etc
then we probably don't need to for lesser types like karl alzner, fedor tytutin etc

we have the assets to make those moves without destroying our core.

my record is irreparably damaged. sorry guys.

yes we can get lesser guys without damaging the core but we want/need a star. everyteam in the top 4 have a top d and when we did we were in the finals 2. I know its not going 2 happen no1 wants to come here iam just saying if theres a chance for a top d then ur going to have to give more back more than gagner or smid to do it. the oilers can score just not stop them
