Haha, I know, I think him and Ashton will fight for a spot, don't count out Hamilton.

I know Brad Ross isn't ready for the NHL but his game is closer in style to Komorov's then Ashton and D'Amigo. Wouldn't Ross have as good a chance as those two bums?

He's a +35 and wants a 4 year deal!

If he retires his cap hit still counts.

- burn

Need someone to replace the Pronger 35+ deal since his doesn't count against the cap

If you're going to pick a scene from that movie, the Car's Moving In Stereo plays while a red bikini Phoebe Cates walks slowly out of the pool.

IMO, huge loss for the Leafs. Loved the way that Leo Komarov played this year and I think they are going to have a lot of trouble replacing the guy.

I have a feeling the Olympics are a big factor. North Americans often don't understand just what they mean to euro hockey players. I never felt N.A. gave the tourney the same level of respect. The NHL should know better and remedy the issue

He was a part timer with the Marlies this season, needs another year or two, imo.

Another that is close to an agitator is Sam Carrick.

I don't think an agitator is required.

I don't think Dave Bolland would be considered an agitator but he's probably the closest thing the Hawks have.

Agreed, but bottom six guys are a lot easier to replace and/or upgrade than top six guys.

It just kills me about Leafs fans - we went into the playoffs as the sixth seed and got bounced out in the first round.

But apparently this team is so perfect, we can't possibly lose any of the guys from last year, including a fourth liner?

We didn't win the cup.

We didn't win a round in the playoffs.

We need changes.

I liked Komarov. I'd offer Komarov a new contract.

But if we lose him, I am being sincere when I write that it won't bother me in the least. We can replace him with a million other guys.

I don't neccesarily agree. I think we will miss his penalty killing and hits (whether you value hits?). He did everything an agitator does perfectly, without taking the penalties like Kaleta and Cooke. He would push the line and bend it, but very rarely stepped fully over. He also calmed others down.

I don't think we are perfect but our bottom six as:
Kuli/McClement/Frattin
Komorov/***/Orr/Maclaren
is on the way to being one of the better bottom 6 in the league.

Top 6 (scoring goals) hasn't been a problem for us in a while but still needs 1 winger and maybe 1 centre.

The D is a different matter. Personally im not a fan of Gunnarsson, maybe tainted because the way he played while he was injured?

But if we can keep our forward group (although we just lost one), add a couple more and wait to see how Gardiner and Reilly pan out. I think we may be in a good spot. Just my opinion though.

Carrick is more in the mould of Bolland, he is a two way centre that won't back down, don't know if he will make it but the guy has heart and plays bigger than he is.

Another to keep an eye on if he comes to camp is Granberg.

Agreed, look what happened to Chicago when they moved their depth players. Heart and sole isn't as easily replaced. Listen to what the guys say about Komarov, you won't find another guy like him.

Yes - look at what happened to them. They made the playoffs every year since and are currently in the SCFs. What a disaster.

They didn't just lose depth, ie. Komarov type grinders; they lost Byfuglien, Ladd, Versteeg, Niemi and more.

took em about a half season to recover, they played terrible out of the gate and didn't show well in the playoffs, but you can look at it that way if you would like.

Exactly, that's my view. i think he'll be missed. I also believe (try to ignore hockey for a while) that he was actaully decent at faceoffs as well for when the center got chucked out. I don't agree with easily replaceable. If that's the case most teams would have a decent bottom 6. Oilers can't even get a bottom 6.

We tried bottom 6 guys with Crabb, Lombardi, Sjostrom, Rosehill, Mitchell, Hanson, Wallin, Mayers etc. To me none were/are as good as Komorov.

Yeah....his 9 minutes a game will be really hard to replace. Impossible to find a guy like him who's a UFA...well except Armstrong, Laperierre, Anthony Stewart, Drew Miller, Tim Brent, etc, etc.....oh wait.

What, the guy that kept inventing stats to disprove why the Leafs were situated well in the standings last year?

What gave you that idea?

- walshyleafsfan

"inventing?" They are widely used statistical measures, they are just new to this websites community it seems.

Statistics or not, getting outshot and not having the puck are hardly recipes for success, wouldn't you agree?

hmm, well tim brent and armstrong played no where near the level he did, no where near the intensity and other teams weren't ever talking about disliking playing them

Kinda, although we had our most successful season in a long time with us getting outshot and not having the puck so....WTF do i know?

lol....my point was he's a 9 minute a game 4th liner, who despite playing a good chunk of the early part of the season with Kadri, scored 4 goals.

Was he a pesky little poopbox? Yes. But he's hardly unreplaceable.

Like a previous poster said....it's not like Ladd, Byufuglien, Niemmi and Versteeg are leaving.
