Honest question:
If we were to get Vinny and buy him out, we wouldn't be able to sign him right after, correct?
You can't sign a guy at a cheaper price who you've just bought out? - UsernameUnknown
BUYOUTS
During the ordinary course buyout periods in June 2013 and June 2014, teams will be permitted two compliance buyouts. Compliance buyouts follow the same formula as ordinary-course buyouts — either 1/3 or 2/3 of actual salary depending on age — but do not count against the cap.
In 2013, the buyout period begins 48 hours after the Stanley Cup Final ends and concludes on July 4 at 5 p.m.
The NHL allowed teams to execute one of their two compliance buyout options prior to the 2012-13 season on players with cap hits of more than $3 million. Two teams exercised the option: the Montreal Canadiens on Scott Gomez and the New York Rangers on Wade Redden. The players received full pay and counted at their full cap hit for 2012-13, after which the compliance buyout payments kick in.
For one season following a compliance buyout, the player is prohibited from rejoining the team that bought him out.

I agree as well on Malone, but there seems to always be a market for trade for a guy of his ilk. I.e. Ryane Clowe. I think they're quite fond of Brewer. - mykokes
Every game I saw Brewer play, I thought he looked brutal out there. |

Panthers introduce $7 dollar tickets
The 44-game package for $7 a game is available for 500 seats in various locations in the 400 level of the BB&T Center, Panthers spokesman Matt Sacco said.
The deal includes parking, a Panthers jersey and a ticket to four concerts in a concert series for season-ticket holders. - dragus84
To put that into perspective, it's $6 to attend a GTHL game. |

Anyone see the TO rumour posted in the Tbay forum about the leafs offering mid level roster players and a package of prospects for the 3rd overall pick and Vinny Lecavalier. TO would then buy out Vinny. - Fakepartofme
Let's pretend for a moment that I believe this.
Do you think the Leafs would play Vinny in 2013-14 before deciding to buy him out? |

i think I would. If grabbo is gone then resign Bozak so he can take back the #1 Center role until our #3 pick is ready |

Bozak is arguably not going to be resigned if his demands exceed over 3.5-4 |

I do think Clowe would come a lot cheaper than Clarkson or Horton, and if that helps us target a big name center, then I guess that's the route you go. I see Horton got hurt again last night, anyway...
But I don't really get the fascination with these old, run-down back-ups. Is that a requirement now or something?
Are there really any of these old farts kicking around out there that make us a better team than with Scrivens? You'd think that hanging on to two young goalies would be the way to go.

I thought Habby played well, but whatever. I can't see the Leafs keeping Scrivins at a good price. I figured he'd probably end up on a team as a defacto starter.
Maybe we can trade Scrivins to Philly for Simmonds
