I think MacT has the great opinion on the matter... He's obviously gonna use his intuition and hockey knowledge to make a decision, but with the science and stats a available today you'd be stupid not to look at it.
Go with a combination of both schools of thought. - robin_steele264
I think that's reasonable.... It also seems like the corsi fenwick groupies would rather uses only that as basis of decision making. It trumps all else.
If what I see with my eyes and goals, assist, wins/losses goes against fenwick corsi I'm going with my eyes and the solid facts. |

Anyone see the TO rumour posted in the Tbay forum about the leafs offering mid level roster players and a package of prospects for the 3rd overall pick and Vinny Lecavalier. TO would then buy out Vinny. - Fakepartofme

Nope.
Did Fenwick predict the devils and kings to go to the cup last year?
You're proving my point by saying how unpredictable it is.
I can't predict what's going to happen by watching and having an opinion, but I enjoy it, because I enjoy watching the game.
Fenwick/Corsi can't predict poop either, because as per your argument its hard to predict, because there are a million x factors especially in a game like hockey. Watching hockey has a point (entertainment value). Spending time fiddling with meaningless stats doesn't. - dragus84
what you consider valuable and meaningless is very different from what I do, that goes for everything in life. The difference is probably that i wont call what you find meaningful a waste of time.

What is Vinny's cap hit anyways?
$7,727,273.......uh, unless one of the mid-range players going to Tampa is Grabo, this deal would frighten the (frank) out of me, even if it did mean getting one of drouin or nate......I wish I totally understood what its saying below....but the buyout cap hit would be more than the actual salary? I'm confused.

But way too pricey |

I won't believe it until I see it happen, BUT... this is not the first place that I've seen/talked about this rumour.
What I heard was Grabovski, Kulemin for Vinny and the 3rd overall.
With that said... I don't see how Tampa Bay (who could buy out Vinny themselves) would trade away a pick where they ould land Drouin who would be an instant replacement for St. Louis when he retires...
Also, I'm not sure on this but I don't think you're able to amnesty anyone who hasn't played at least 30 games with your roster. Meaning Vinny would have to play the entire next season with the Leafs and then be bought out the following season as the window for amnesty would be closed for the first year. Interesting but I think it's a farce. |

It simply states mid level roster players that eliminates those two.
Maybe a Kule and Mac -esque type of player. |

Compliance buyout. Each team got two to use, if they want, this summer or next summer. Doesn't count aganst the cap. |

I don't think you can compliance buyout/amnesty a player who hasn't played 30 games on your roster... also, the amnesty window ends when Free Agency begins on the 5th. Meaning Vinny is stuck on the Leafs for at least one full season! |

if I am tampa I dont do that deal, unless SY has been told to shed salary.
It would have to include at least the leafs 1st and a prospect, like Colborne in addition. Also why would they want Gabo at 5.5? |
