Brodeur had a terrible shot quality % btw

However the Devils lead the league in limiting quality chances for years.

Advanced stats have a place in the determination of hockey. The issue is that many stats favor certain styles of play like puck possession. The Coyotes were absolutely destroyed by the BHawks last year if you asked Fenwick and Corsi, they should have lost 8-1 every game, but they didn't, because puck possession means nothing unless you can do something with it. That's when as you say % shots come in, many shots were low percentage and there was another % called Mike Smith on some sort of steroids.

I don't know yet, It is just a two day one night trip, maybe.

With the age of your daughter, you don't need to go to Great Wolf Lodge. It won't provide any additional smiles to what you already have with the water park in Niagara.

Save your money.

Larger the sample size the better.

So it'll only continue to get better.

- robin_steele264

Well so far it's pretty much failed at ever turn. Steen > Crosby over 2 previous years.

IMO the stats that are being looked at are flawed. Giving same weight to a goal vs a shot giving same weight to a goal or assist vs a faceoffs taken.

There are serious flaws.

Problem is the reliablility of the # that are imputed. Hockey doesn't track that kind of think very well.... Way behind on that type of stuff. Hell tracking icetime is relatively new in hockey.

It'll continue to improve.

Sports science shouldn't exclude hockey.

I found it interesting when Eakins was asked about what kind of system he will run he said 'all of them... And change them within games. NFL players get a massive book of plays they gotta learn and NHL players gotta know 1 system? Doesn't seem right.'

New age hockey!

He was a part timer with the Marlies this season, needs another year or two, imo.

Another that is close to an agitator is Sam Carrick.

- LeafMan

Has McKegg been mentioned? He isn't an agitator at all but, he has a fair amount of sandpaper to his game and some upside. I think he could definitely fill a bottom-6 role for the Leafs, if not this year then next.

Jeebus. I don't think he's shown he's anywhere close to ready. And definitely not to take the place of Komarov.

Hard to gauge where he fits in, he didn't get a full role with the Marlies this year, I think we will know more after the coming season if he has a full time roster spot with the Marlies.

It can be arranged, have any smart ass remark to make at a ref again who had absolutely nothing to do with your 1st ban?

Kadri will likely not shoot 17% his entire career. But isn't it equally possible that he will continue to improve, get more ice time (even strength and powerplay) and actually get more shots?
- yemrots

I liken the 2012 Leafs to the 2012 Orioles. Both were young, exceeded expectations, statistically under-performed their playoff seeding and got booted early due to inexperience.

In 2013 the young Oriole players have taken a step forward and another layer of depth has emerged on the farm. Hopefully the Leafs can follow a similar trajectory this off-season and wind up in the playoffs.

He wouldn't fill the role of Komarov. I meant he's a guy that could step in to a bottom 6 role in the near future that has some grit.

McKegg could definitely get his start, eventually, as a third liner who forechecks a lot, responsible defensively, he’s pretty quick, but not lightning quick. He’s not an agitator. He’s like…. Grabovski I guess would be the best style of play comparison.
