When I'm in the mood to I can put up with it as long as my arguements have value. But I'm not in the argue something so trivial.... right now ahaha

I'm just in here getting under people's skin and finishing my checks. I'm like the Leo K of HB - irreplaceable!

BTW - If he wasn't going back to the KHL, what salary range would you re-sign him to?

Komorov is so replaceable and I hope they move or buyout grabovski as in a 64 mill cap world grabovski has a bad contract for a 4th line centre.
- Snowmanonfire

Yes, he's replaceable. But, if they don't replace him (which they probably won't), I'd rather keep him.

Potentially, it's something Brad Ross can do in a few years, and hopefully offer a little more offense. But for the time being, I want a guy on the team that does what he does.

$1M, $1.5M at most. I don't think it would take a pile of $ to keep him around.

Okay, now you guys are just trying to piss me off.

If this wasn't so blatantly wrong I'd probably bother with it.

Matt Cooke is UFA? He'd be a slight improvement, even.

NHL it likely is. Teams will do anything for an edge.

I think the science behind stuff like this will only continue to grow and evolve.

its coming, more teams will buy in as time goes on. You will start to fall behind if you dont combine statistical analysis with traditional Watch a player and decide if he is any good or not

I read a great book a couple years ago called Hockeynomics.... About the hidden stats in the game. Basically advanced stats.

Very interesting.

Goalie stats like 'shot quality save %' that measures a save % vs. a quality scoring chance. Not just every shot.

Can't see how a team looking for a goalie wouldn't be interested in something like that.

There isn't a large amount of teams using a lot, so no.

Will it evolve ? Probably... Agree that teams looking for any edge, but these advanced stats are so flawed its ridiculous. Needs loads of work. It took years for baseball to come around on advanced stats, it didn't happen overnight and they have a game that lends itself more to advanced stats. [/img]

I don’t know how to react to that idea. It kind of makes me throw up in my mouth a little. I don’t mind guys like Marchand. But Cooke? He’s out there ruining careers.

up until recently the leafs had no need for something like that..they would just trade the player away before they were any good (Steen, Rask)

Larger the sample size the better.

Brodeur had a terrible shot quality % btw

However the Devils lead the league in limiting quality chances for years.

Problem is the reliablility of the # that are imputed. Hockey doesn't track that kind of think very well.... Way behind on that type of stuff. Hell tracking icetime is relatively new in hockey.
