Not over valuing anyone. I take Benn over Nash all day. Nash has also been in the league 10 years or so. so you cant have 5 30 goal seasons if you haven't even palyed 5 seasons. You fail to mention the players that didn't work out in the top 3. Benn you can build your team around, Nash has proven you cant and that he cant step up in the playoffs either. Your overvaluing the #1 pick. It comes down to who is there and who is making the pick. I don't think there is a better power forward in the league right now than Benn, he also has been playing out of position.
For one I take mac over jones all day also. - allen_gamble
You ARE over valuing benn. Which is fine, its called being a good fan. Benn is a great player and he is the Stars "Star Player" however league wide I doubt he is in the top 30.
Once again, Benn is an amazing player, however until he reaches the number Nash has reached, you can't really say he is better, even with the age advantage.
Also I will go on record saying I don't think you can truly overvalue the #1 overall pick |

Don't be petty and correct spelling when you understand the point of the sentence! IMO it spells out douchebaggary.... Don't saying you are a douche... but if a douche was to do something douche... this would qualify. |

Well put! I don't follow the Avs very much but I was going by their roster from last season! Their D is a work in progross, having Downie back and Healthy will be a big boost for the forward group and you gotta think that Duncan Seimans will get a shot at the big club next season after a good junior campaign, the kid is 6'3 210 already at 19 years old! (20 by the start of the season) - steve362
For sure, and for someone who doesn't follow the avs you do know a good amount about them. I am impressed.
I will also say the avs actually have 2 great goalie prospects of their own in Pickard and sami aittokallio along with the fact that Varly just turned 25, they don't really need any goalie prospects.
After seeing what happens to the penguins and watching the failure of the oilers, I would hope the avs learn to build a solid Defense to go along with landeskog as well as duchene and not just go top heavy.

It's fine if you don't agree I still respect your opinion and it is no more meaningful than my own. I am just trying to lay out my reasons behind my opinions.

Avs are not interested in a goalie acquisition either, they will roll the dice with Varly again. Having his idol as his coach and finally having a goalie coach for the basically the first time in the franchises history. His game will improve, and Giggy is going to be a very good back up for the same reasons as well.
They for sure heck wont be trading it off for a 33 year old goalie one year removed from UFA. - DDM-Coga
Cmon varly sucks and you know it. I dont want buffalo to trade up to 1, but roy wants to hear buffalo offers. He wants miller, grigorenko (his star in quebec), 16th pick (to take adam erne his other quebec star), and probably 2 second rounders and a d like sekera, |

There's no way I'm making that trade
Grigorenko should've been a top3 pick, top5 at worst...
If u look at it like that,
Would you really give all that other stuff to move up a few spots?
I wouldn't
Grigorenko will be very good
I'm not trading Vanek or Miller to move up...
We will get a very Pominville-like return
That could leave us with FOUR 1sts and FOUR 2nds in this draft, plus a couple more prospects
That adds A LOT of talent to a pretty good young group were putting together
That sounds much more attractive to me than trading all these assets for one player
Not that I'd predict any of the top four to be busts, but it does happen

No he doesnt want to hear offers with first round picks below 3rd overall, he has already publicly said that. IF you want to get the first, you need to trade up to acquire the 2nd or 3rd overall pick or else you have to really pony up and Lindros trade overspend to get it. They have nothing to lose by holding onto their pick and position. The top 3 are the gem of this draft, so for the Avs to not even draft in the top 10, they need a kings ransom, not bc thats what the pick is worth, but why would they miss out on the top 3 draft picks without cleaning up with an embarrassment of talent back that will set up the team for 10-15 years.
Varly doesnt suck as much as his numbers do. He has amazing raw talent, he just is inconstant as a mother. Would put on a 50 save masterpiece the one night and then get blown out by 4 goals in the first period. But hey when EJ, and Wilson were hurt, our top paring with Included one of Zanon, O,Bryne, or Hunwick. No goalie and his stats were safe with that Dcore last season. |

I know i completly agree with you, i was just stating what it take to move up to #1, without a top 5 pick, you have to excessivley overpay.
Im trading vanek and miller in separate deals. Both are worth 1st rounder (top 15), top prospect, plus a 2nd. Vanek we will get more for, and we probably will take a big cap player similar to how we took kotalik.
In this draft, MAYBE 1 of the top 10 picks will be a bust as this years draft is super talented, it has solid nhlers into the early 3 rounders (not counting the 1 per year "diamond in the rough".
I completley agree with grigorenko. Roy really wants his big #1 center. I think that putting 1 of miller or vanek in a package to 4-6 is neccessary, but we have to ensure we dont give up 8th and we should try to give up the second rounders and keep 16. Barkov, Nichuschkin will both be in that 4-6 range and they are cant miss players. 8th, picking up a big D like zadorov would be great. Check out my mock draft please and tellme what you think. http://www.glendalemock.com/1.html |

ANY HABS RUMOURS, Carey Price is in decline
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=425170 - vancanuck1
Roland Melanson, who is the current goaltending coach with the Vancouver Canucks, told L'Acadie Nouvelle -- a French daily newspaper in New Brunswick -- that Price has been in decline since Melanson left Montreal in 2009.
hmm... Price's career best year inevery statistical category was 2010-2011...
sooo.... huh? |

Why would the Habs need Giguere, Lou, and Budaj between the pipes?
What are they giving up for Lou? A bag of pucks and some half filled water bottles? |
