Hey I like Gardiner alot, but Gardiner played some of his best hockey alongside Franson in those last 3 gp. When I was arguing with HH about Gardiner's worth, Gardiner proved to be the 2nd most effective d-man in terms of numbers in the playoffs, but Franson was awesome with whoever he played with in those 3 games. Telling you it was as if a light bulb went off for Franson in that series and he figured poop out. - mykokes
To me, Gardiner showed that his ceiling was waaaaaay high. I know this may not make sense, but it just seemed like the guy is only going to get better.
As I said a month ago, like a young Paul Coffey. Or maybe a young Al Iafrate.
Whenever he has the puck, you kinda have to put your hands half over your eyes - you want to watch, but you are too scared to watch. You just don't know what is going to happen. |

Oh long-term I think the leafs should keep them both, and eventually use them together. I thought they were awesome in the playoffs together, Ryan O'byrne though with Gardiner made me want to puke. |

You know what strikes me as funny?
O'Byrne is a UFA.
I haven't heard or read a single word about whether or not the Leafs try to re-sign him.
That's probably an indication of something... |

That's cause the leafs are going to get him for $10.85/hr as the 7th or 8th or to the Marlies until injuries kick in!!!! |

Once again, logically speaking, do you see a lot of teams lining up to trade for a guy with concussion problems, who was a healthy scratch 3 out of 7 playoff games, scored no points, and has three years left at a cap hit of just under $4 million? - Atomic Wedgie
Haha not so great with reading comprehension are you?
Trying to trade a guy and actually doing it are completely different things. If he can get off to a good start and you eat some salary, there's no reason to think a team not near the cap wouldn't want him.
Try again though |

That's cause he was a clear-cut rental pick-up. He was for playoff depth and that's it. He's gone.
Franson is tough because I really see him as a perfect lock on the 2nd pairing with Gardiner. He's big, effective and has a boomer shot. He just has to work on his footspeed a bit. I was surprised to hear a lot of you complaining about 2.5-3. I was thinking like a 5 year, 20 mill deal for Franson. Lock him in in his prime |
