Is Allison getting a Tryout at Camp this year?? I miss those days when we invited a wash up to camp. What retired/displaced player would you want to see invited this year?? Me: Andrew Raycroft.
- Jimmy_wiener

Yes he is and you won't recognize him once Barb Underhill gets a hold of him.

well it'll all be over soon and you guys can go back to posting your 2013-14 lineups and figuring out where David Clarkson and Joe Thornton fit into the juggernaut.
- DoubleDown

They fit in wherever the hell we want them to fit in. It is of no concern to you. You forgot to mention Malkin... he is going to be a Leaf also.

AND Linus Omark, book it.

From todays Star: JFJ orig wanted to trade Tlusty for Raycroft:

Rask, of course, was a Maple Leaf draft pick who was traded — infamously so — for Andrew Raycroft in 2006.

It was former Leafs GM John Ferguson Jr. who drafted (21st overall in 2005) — and traded — Rask. The Bruins’ acting GM at the time was Jeff Gorton. But current GM Peter Chiarelli remembers the trade, and says the Leafs tried to convince the Bruins to take Jiri Tlusty (13th overall in 2006) instead.

“There was a lot of discussion at both ends about it,” said Chiarelli. “It was decided that it would be Rask from Boston’s end.

“I think they tried to come back and maybe flip that, consider the other guy, who is a good player in Carolina now. Eventually they said no and the deal was done.”

Yes, the unbearable pressure of 100% sellouts and tons of merch sales.

Maybe now that the suits have had the taste of one round of playoff revenue with no salaries to pay they will be motivated to spend more money on scouting and development.

If we ever got to the Stanley Cup Final they would charge $1000 for standing room obstructed view and raise the price of a warm beer to $50

Yes - the fans and media pressure. Fans and media say "Leafs suck" over and over again and the seats are still full, jerseys bought and games viewed by millions. Again - unbearable pressure.

I'm pretty sure they're already spending more than the vast majority of teams on scouting and development. I mean Barb Underhill's on the payroll, there's an army of pro and amateur scouts, and there's 4-5 suits in the management team.

It's been that way since the beginning of the salary cap, and thanks to some piss poor management by a certain GM whose name I can't confirm nor deny, they're finally on the right track. yay.

I thought we had got passed this junk science. Success = money ...much more money -especially now that the team is owned by broadcasting giants.

Ownership not caring about winning because they sell seats and jerseys anyway is the equivalent of arguing that you don't care about banging hot chicks because you've got a dozen fat chicks lined up at your door.

*Disclaimer: this hypo only works if you don't like fat chicks. If you prefer fat chicks to hot chicks than substitute the word fat for the word hot and the word hot for the word fat.
