Pretty reasonable.

I feel the same way about plekanec, can't stand him. But almost certainly because of the jersey he wears. I haven't seen enough of Galchenyuk that I would take him over a consistent top 10 scorer in this league, but if he is the all around player you say he is, then maybe he can turn out to be a top scorer while also bringing some other aspects that we will never see from Kessel.

I think the hate for Kessel is crazy, once again probably in part because of the jersey he wears. There is probably not a guy in the top 30 in scoring who's perceived value is as low as kessels (who has been in the top 7 back to back years.)

No doubt. He doesn't suck.

I think Gally's upside is a top 10 scorer in the league. Which Kessel already is.
Gally has youth and the ELC going for him. But his future is not clear yet.

I doubt the Leafs trade Kessel for Gally. However I see your point. Plekanec....no.

- yemrots

No doubt I am basing it on potential and Galchenyuk's ability to do more things than just score. May not happen, but that's my subjective opinion.

Interesting.....yet currently a possibly valid answer

I take into account Kessel has one year left and is likely getting huge money after that

Galchenyuk, Gallagher.

Plekanec, Pacioretty are debatable. Not the same kind of players.

you're seriously telling me if you were offered kessel for gallagher straight up you wouldn't pull the trigger as gm?

No doubt the guy can skate, shoot and put up points. There is no denying it and anyone who does has their own reasons for it. The stats back him up.

What about Price?...from a Leaf perspective I would say no at this point...but it's an interesting trade theory...just curious

You got one that is close, though I'd be inclined to say no right now ( kessel is better now, no guarantee galy get to where kessel is now, very high probability he doesn't).

The rest aren't even remotely close.

I saw, no need to fix it, they should know by now that kind of insult will not be tolerated for any fan base using that term.
- LeafMan

Well, on the second one, he was making fun of my spelling. I initially posted that the term "can" be said instead of "can't". I have since fixed the error, but he was just kidding.

I've noticed he often gets to the point where Leaf fans say he sucks and want him benched then quickly redeems himself with a beauty.

A runner up for the Calder trophy on his ELC? Hell yeah I'm keeping Gallagher.

I'll take Patrice Bergeron over Alexei Kovalev any day.

that's lovely for you.

And completely irrelevant.

fickle leaf fans, yes forsure.

There was a point early in the year where he went i think 9 games without scoring. People wanted to hang him, Damien cox wanted him waived I think.

But people don't watch the games, I think he had 12 assists or something in those goalless games and he was flying out there creating chances all over the ice.

that's a no brainer... but not as if bergeron doesn't put up points as well. He's the complete player.

I'd say Kessel has more compete than Kovalev if we're being fair. That playoff game where he got a love tap and dropped his glove and cost his team I"ll never forget

yeah, comparing Max Pacioretty to Bergeron is a joke. Comparing Kovalev to Kessel is a joke. Especially these days.

hmmm...

Let's take a look at the numbers.

Kessel's first season, 29 points in 70 games, 11 goals.
Gallagher's first season, 28 points in 44 games, 15 goals.
