I'll take Patrice Bergeron over Alexei Kovalev any day. - Pecafan Fan
that's a no brainer... but not as if bergeron doesn't put up points as well. He's the complete player.
I'd say Kessel has more compete than Kovalev if we're being fair. That playoff game where he got a love tap and dropped his glove and cost his team I"ll never forget

Which forwards on the Habs would you not trade straight up for Kessel? - dragus84
I'm not a huge fan of his, but I can be honest and tell you that part of that is no doubt due to who he plays for. I know he can score and I will never doubt those abilities. However, I would not trade Galchenyuk for him straight up, because I think he is going to be a special player. At this time of course, Kessel has much more value and I realize that. But in the future, I think I would rather have Galchenyuk. I also understand that my bias plays a role in my response. After that, maybe Plekanec because of all the different things he does well for the team, but I am not certain on that front. Maybe Galchenyuk takes over those roles and Kessel scores!!

Sorry, no, giveaways are a byproduct of producing lots of offense. Milan Lucic, Jeff Carter, David Krejci (a top defensive forward), and Nathan Horton, are all leaders among giveaways this season.
Additionally, I won't even comment on the stupidity of naming a 7 game sample against one of the top defensive teams in the league.

I think Gally's upside is a top 10 scorer in the league. Which Kessel already is.
Gally has youth and the ELC going for him. But his future is not clear yet.
I doubt the Leafs trade Kessel for Gally. However I see your point. Plekanec....no.
It's the NHL - anybody can win once the playoffs start...most teams are contenders....look what the habs did the year with Halak...it was coaching/some luck/some good play/some good goaltending..they were contenders even if they looked like poop on paper.
Leafs win against Boston and what you think they get steamrolled by the next team? Is that because they wear blue and white or you really think they suck? - Garnie
I agree with the fact that once in....everything is possible.
There's a difference to be made with being a "contender" and getting in and getting the right stuff ( luck etc etc) in order to make it to the cup.

I provided factual evidence. (and just looked at the playoffs, yes)
Please play the game and don't resort to childish name calling.

depends if we're factoring in age/contract $
if all things were equal, id NOT give up Galchenyuk, and that's probably about it.
Eller is up there too though because i think he's going to keep getting better and big two-way centres are very, very hard to find whereas high-scoring wingers are available somewhat regularly.

Pretty reasonable.
I feel the same way about plekanec, can't stand him. But almost certainly because of the jersey he wears. I haven't seen enough of Galchenyuk that I would take him over a consistent top 10 scorer in this league, but if he is the all around player you say he is, then maybe he can turn out to be a top scorer while also bringing some other aspects that we will never see from Kessel.
I think the hate for Kessel is crazy, once again probably in part because of the jersey he wears. There is probably not a guy in the top 30 in scoring who's perceived value is as low as kessels (who has been in the top 7 back to back years.)
