Don't worry, he'll set everyone straight with a condescending statement devoid of any argumentation.

Meh. I'm not saying that anyone is wrong. I'm just curious how this hypothesis was arrived at, and I want to judge based on that.

He's just being a Brad Marchand.
- DrRecchi

A highly effective 2-way player with the ability to make big plays in big games?

Doesn't sound like Frenchie

You might hate him, that's just cause he's good at his role.

But to say he's not good is simply the hate blinding you.

- robin_steele264

not hate...

I hate Alfredsson... 'cause more often than not he's a douche.

The League is going to create another little monster with Marchand, that's what I don't like. While I thought it was funny at the time, the incident with Sedin, the low-bridge on Salo, the countless after the whistle cheap shots. Until the league removes the instigator rule so teams can address these issues themselves, they are going to encourage guys like Marchand to be increasingly dirty and cheap. Look at Kaletta. Its a bad act that always gets worse if it isn't stopped.

I wasn't cheering for Pittsburgh by any means, but the slew foot thing on Crosby just isn't necessary on any player, nevermind it being Crosby.

And I think he can be an effective player, but put him line without a guy like Bergeron i) getting him the puck and ii) covering up for him... different story statistically.

I would like to see factual evidence of the overblown defensive shortcomings.

And my butt is fine, thank you for your concerns.

- DrRecchi

Why don't you provide factual evidence they exist?

Not sure about that. He make plenty happen on his own out there, especially in big games.

so on serious note, is the Oiler fan base generally happy about the Eakins hiring?

do you believe MacT will actually clean house... or are there sightings of ex-Oilers creeping back into the picture?

Are you using Horton as an example of someone who hasn't panned out?? He's currently PPG in the playoffs and if he's not re-signed it won't be because Boston is giving up on him, it's because he's outpriced them with his play. 9th best scorer in that strongest draft in the millennium. 402 points in 594 is no slouch, come on.
- Morris

Yeah but not the elite superstar that everyone forecasted him. Not saying he is not a great player. I was using him to say that all top 3 picks are not franchise players.

If I was using busts I would have used Diagle.

He's asking you a legit question. Why is it impossible for you to answer without personal attacks?
- hscesq

I don't anyone would need to provide evidence of him being better offensively. That's absolutely 100% blatantly obvious. Even his statement about the wrist shot is kind of silly. He put up a lot of assists this year, and I'm sure even Habs fans saw some of the playmaking he did.

Defensively? Not an easy one to provide factual evidence for either way. But most Leaf fans will tell you, he played pretty well defensively this year. Last year, he started to use his speed to backcheck a lot more, and this year, he was flat out fine defensively.

Better at staying healthy than big tough guy Maxi Pad.
- AdamFrench

Can you provide 'factual evidence' proving that Maxi Pad is a 'big tough guy'?

Or is he a power forward in the mould (notice spelling) of Erik Cole?

Nice deflect.
- hscesq

The thing is, it's very difficult to back up defensive play with facts and stats. He can't come up with anything better to say Kessel is bad defensively than I can come up with things to say he isn't. And that's the point. It wasn't a deflect.

Even if your statement was true, it still doesn't make him a proven 40 goal scorer.
- DrRecchi

It should have read 30 goals. I didn't proof read
