From 2000-2012 there have only been 10 European born CHL goalies drafted into the NHL. Only one (Peter Budaj) played more than 3 NHL games.

Levente Szuper - 2000
Jan Chovan - 2001
Peter Budaj - 2001
Peter Hamerlik - 2002
Daniel Manzato - 2002
Riku Helenius - 2006
Jaroslav Janus - 2009
Phillip Grubauer -2010
Petr Mrazek - 2010
David Honzik - 2011

I think the other issue is bringing in the drafted european goalies (ex. Oscar Dansk, Andrey Makarov).

hmmm. I kinda thought bozak was pretty strong both ways. sorta horcoff from a few years back, but maybe I overestimated his defensive acumen abit. probably due to getting so many defensive zone faceoff assignments. but I guess that just cause he's strong on the dot.

Bozak's a polarizing figure for us, we hate that he was our #1 centre, you got the right comparison in Horcoff circa when he was 25/26.

What about the ones that come to play after being drafted.

Oscar Dansk, Igor Bobkov, Johan Mattsson, Robin Lehner, Michal Neuvirth, that's just the OHL and once you go back to 2006 when transfers were controlled and less frequent you have almost no foreign goalies.

Yeah that's a good point. I guess I didn't check that but should have.

Just thinking out loud, I wonder whether this is a correlation implies causation fallacy. Do people write papers about hockey? What deliberation period lead them to make this call?

Everytime I look at our depth chart, I want us to draft a centre. But everytime I watch highlights of Nurse, I want us to draft him.

With the 7th overall my personal rankings are:

1)Trade up and draft Barkov, not using a roster player
2)Trade in a package for a good young potential top 2 pairing Dman
3)Trade in a package for a good young top 4 defenseman
4)Draft Monahan or Nurse

I'd do that trade over and over again from the Kings' standpoint. Teubert turned out to be a bust and Klefboom hasn't played a single game. I don't know about you guys, but I actually really like Penner. Penner contributed immensely to winning a Cup and was one of the top players during the playoffs this season. He is very physical in the playoffs, can chip in a few goals, screen the goalie. His presence is definitely felt when he's on the ice in the playoffs. I really hope Lombardi resigns him (home discount of course).

The Oilers would love to have him on their team right now...

if by immensely you mean 11P in 20GP. And a total of 37P in 117 regular season games. Then yes immensely

Actually a thicker skull does help prevent concussions. Look it up.
- Snagglepuss

This shows how little you actually know about what a concussion is and how it occurs. Rattle a guys head hard enough, the brain is gonna bounce back and forth inside the bucket no matter how hard thick the container is. Might prevent hemorrhages and fractures. Try again.

We'd have an easier time getting Hartnell who could make a lot of good impact for a cheaper price than Couts.

Chucked around all the time, but I also like the idea of trying Bogosian in a new environment. He plays a simple game and succeeds generally at being a credible puck-moving threat from the back end.

Along with, and going for a year or more.

"I wouldn't/ they won't/ no way/ they shouldn't/ how could you trade either Hall, RNH, Yakupov, Eberle, Shultz and Klefbomb"

It's at the point where he's taking the piss.
