Fills one hole but creates another, but I'd do it just to not hear RC talk about his Kelfboner anymore.
- kingbrehm

It's hard to not do that though. Unless, you keep drafting top 5 year after year until all positions are filled, or UFA's decide to come at a relatively cheap price

Klefbom
Marincin
Gernat
Musil
Pitlick
Tyrvainen
Zharkov
Ewanyk
Rajala
Khaira
Moroz
Davidson

- kingbrehm

Tyrvainen is gone to the KHL. And to be honest, Davidson and Moroz are extremely questionable. Kessy will probably do better than Moroz will.

Letang for Eberle straight up?
- Orpik44

Don't see that. edmonton won't due to letang not signed after next year and being a UFA, and Pittsburg wouldn't do it if Letang was signed beyond next year

I agree that anyone can be moved. Would people here move one of the top guys Re: Eberle or Yakupov if it could get you Mike Green and Alzner from Washington? I would make that trade in a heartbeat and the Oil would be in the playoffs next year.
- skidmark

I wouldn't trade one of the kids for Green or Alzner. John Carlson though, now that's another story

You are right on most things except Bozak being a legit top 6 C. I think he plays there for lack of a better option in TO. He has the physical attributes Gagner lacks, but not the talent.
- Jeropotato

Bozak could probably be a #2 centre. I never liked seeing him with Phil, i found he played his best hockey away from Phil, but as a fellow poster kept noting, phil with Bozak as his linemate did have back to back top 10 scoring finishes.

Ideally, on a championship team Bozak would be a #3. On a good team he would be a 1b or 2. He's at his best when he's not trying to be a playmaking centre, his shot is underated, (always has a decent shooting percentage). He should be trying to score rather than forcefeeding passes to phil.

Jordan eberle, 1st round pick in 13,14, Oscar klefbomb for malkin and douglas Murray. Thoughts?
- Snagglepuss

I just don't see the point in this one...

If you sign him to an extension first then sure, but otherwise no.

Sorry I thought you were being sarcastic ... Letting nuge be a 2C would be the perfect thing for his development into an elite 1C

I feel like the Oilers should go after Ference and Scuderi this offseason.

Get some grit and experience on the back end.

Exactly. I say send Zharkov, Miller and Khaira to OKC next year. Big guys. All have got a fair amount of skill. I forgot to mention those 3 earlier. Maybe even Dillon Simpson as well. He did fairly well this year too.

Miller will be in OKC but he's not big at all

That's what I was thinking. Extension than a trade.

It's a fair deal.

You are probably right, and statistically he is not.But I have seen enough to strongly believe he will be, very soon, one of the premier playmakers in the NHL.

I know. But he's fairly physical from what I understand. And he'll definatly improve when he starts playing for OKC. That team needs almost just as much work as the Oilers do. And coming from what Eakins said last night, there will be changes down there as well.

I think player development is starting to become an issue for the Oil. Teams lose their will to compete and succeed if they fail to accomplish a positive result over an extended period of time. MacT has signaled he wants to change the culture.

I do not think the Oil have a top 6 problem. I think almost all their problems stem from their inability to compete in their own end. And, they give up too many easy chances. Soft goals are a killer of a young team's spirit.

The idea that Weber would not help the Oil is beyond ludicrous. Move Weber and Nashville goaltending to Edmonton and the Oil instantly become dark horse contenders for Stanley.

I love this young Edmonton team but MacT understands the future has to be now. And, if things do not improve next year the long term prospects may start to decline.

Please, can everyone stop identifying the x number of players that are untouchable. Everybody is available for the right price. MacT will likely move a top player and get a very substantial improvement in the team's ability to compete.

The idea the Oil brain trust would have no interest in Weber is an insult even to the casual hockey student.

stop confusing our blogger with all of our posters. hardly anyone outside clouts even mentions the word.

no one is untouchable.

but ill be clear; if you're just another poster suggesting that the only way we can improve is to deal one of our kids, you're very wrong imo

Eakins will do really well with the Kids but needs a few Vets to work with: Iginla, Ryder, Clowe, Cullen, Sullivan all UFA`s.
- Jimmy_wiener

at the right price, both of these guys would help.

not really interested in the other 3 too much for one reason or another

I agree with this ... I think most oil posters use the term as a joke or to identify the kids but no one on here outside of clouts believes it

Maybe a Jarret Stoll circa 4 or 5 years ago, or a Horcoff when he was actually contributing offense. i don't know what those guys are like in the face-off dot. I think you guys have your #2 centre already in Gagner, you just need a big mean d-men or two (like LA adding Willie Mitchell) and your young players to continue to get better. If I was gm of the oilers, i wouldn't force the issue until you guys make the playoffs, and I think you guys will next season. I mean Nail will likely jump to another level in no-time. But you guys need a vet warrior on d. and not a 33 year old either. I really liked what Ottawa did adding someone like Marc Methot. Is there someone like that out there in the NHL that you could get?

I find it odd how MacT hasn't re-signed any of the UFAs or RFAs yet. What do you guys think the deal on that is? Think he's moving all of them?

6mill/ 6-8 years for Letang. I think that's a good trade for both teams
