You have to wonder if the trade is actually in place in WSH and we get another 1st is if Darcy also has another deal already in place as well with that 1st |

So would anyone pick up Rob Scuderi as a UFA? I know PIT fans loved him and he has a cup and great playoff experience. Yes/No? (He is 34 btw) |

Age is a little high.. he is a guy you add when you are close to the playoffs and making a deep run...
I think we need to pick up a vet but not a guy like him.... I still wouldn't mind resigning Pardy to a small 2 year/3M deal to be in our bottom pairings with the rookies...
I also would really like to see us sign Ryan O'Bryne.. he is a big, tough, and physical D-man with a small salary last year.. wouldn't cost too much and could play 2nd D Pairing if injuries occur. |

You remember the whole like 2 hour delay after the trade deadline... how WSH said they had something huge in the works... I still wonder to this day if it was like.. Vanek for Forsberg and their 1st.. and they balked at the last moment and just traded with NSH instead for Forsberg and Erat straight up. |

can he be a mentor. we have the space and we need some solid vet presence to mentor the young guys |

Honestly
Coho and Ennis, either one is a second line center
The defense really is a bunch of 3-6 d men
Hoff is a great 3rd d man
If your not going to get those 3 pieces that the team has needed since Drury and briere left
Move them both - navinrjohnson
Everyone would say Hodgson over Ennis for that 2nd C job. With that, where does it leave Ennis? Can the team live with there being no real number 1 C per say and instead rolling with three number 2 C's in Ennis, Hodgson, Grigorenko (or someone else)? Can the Sabres afford to be that small down the middle, and if that is the plan, they better be putting big wingers on each side of Hodgson & Ennis. With the way the NHL is trending (less skating, more obstruction, less penalties, less space on the ice), if they move Ennis back to wing, is there even room for him on the wing in the top 6?
Ennis is a productive player, but with how the game is being played, unless you think it's going to revert back to the post lockout year style of play, he's a round peg in a square hole in Buffalo.
The real problem is that while other teams would like to have him, Buffalo has serious dead weight at wing in Stafford & Leino. They should jettison both of those guys, and then you almost have to keep Ennis strictly out of need. Ennis would best fit as a wing with a big wing & big center on his line to create space for him.
On the D, if you don't think Myers will ever be a top pairing D man, trade him and stop wasting time waiting to see. Make the decision now.
I think you have to look at the Sabres D as a top 4 core, and not go by who is a number 1, who is a number 2, etc.
Based on that, I think Myers, Ehrhoff, Pysyk, & McNabb. I really like Pysyk & McNabb. Pysyk is the perfect kind of steadying influence partner for Myers and while McNabb may not be an ideal partner for Ehrhoff as he too likes to be offensive and take chances making big hits, you have to give him the chance to play there and grow.
That leaves Sekera as your perfect 5 man, who can move up to 4 whenever needed, and you can fill out the bottom 6/7 anyway you like. |

Completely agree.... completely completely agree... I think that WSH balked at including their first plus last year's first to get one player.... that is what I think they balked at...
Did Forsberg and WSH not get along?? I know that he didn't play more than a handful of games for WSH and then went to NSH and started the rest of the season for them |

Many sources said Stafford and Miller or Vanek for a 1st and Forsberg but Darcy thought it to be too much. If we did trade Vanek for anything with WSH's first i hope we use their pick and 16th to move up a few spots and keep the 8th though unlikely.
After 7 I do not see many players i want to have badly. monahan or lindholm round out the group of top players IMO |

He knows what it takes to go the distance and I think he could be very valuable. Unlike Rivet and Regehr, he would come from a background of winning.
Obviously his age is a concern but I would gamble on a 2 year deal for the right price and maybe even have him play with Myers on a 2nd pairing with the assumption that Hoff plays on the 1P with a different #1 guy. |

You don't think Carolina or Nashville will take him?? Who do you have in front of him going to those teams? At 6.. it will be Nurse, Monahan, Risto, or Lindholm available IMO - JVince11
Thats what I'm saying, is either Monahan or Nuch should be there at 6. So you take whichever one is on the board still. |

Darcy thought he was giving up too much? Miller and Stafford for Forsberg and a 1st that he didn't know was going to be 23rd or later. That would be a tough pill to swallow. Ovie was just starting to play hot again. I thought Vanek was hurt at that point.
I agree... I hope that we can pick a guy like Monahan/Shinkaruk/Lindholm at 8... and then maybe package 16 with a 2nd rounder or another 1st rounder in order to move into the top 12 again. Maybe then take Risto/Zadorov/Puluck. |

Ennis is better than Hodgson. If Ennis played with Vanek and Pominville for half the season, he wouldve put up more points.
Hodgson is a train wreck defensively. Offensively, if hes not playing with Vanek, hes useless. I honestly worry about Hodgson when we trade Vanek, and especially since we traded Pommer already. He couldnt do much of anything without Vanek on his line. Ennis was producing with people like Ott, Gerbe, Stafford, Foligno on his line in addition to Vanek and at the end of the season Hodgson.
Gotta believe Grigs will be our #2 next year and Ennis will be first line winger. |

What do you think it takes then? Throw in Ennis?
Sorry I'm just bored of the Draft speculation so I'm going off on tangents. |
