The Canes aren't dumb enough to take either one of those scrubs. - SABRES 89
I could see them taking either of them,
But not giving up Skinner or McBain
Maybe a 2nd for one of them |

IF Grigorenko becomes the player I think he can be we will have a good 1-2 punch with him and Coho. IF we trade Vanek, move Ennis to wing. Draft Lindholm, he is like Zetterberg/Bergeron. Draft Another forward with the 16 and go D with both picks in round 2. Sign a few role players and get ready for a tough year.
IF Vanek wants to stay and retire a Sabre. If I were Darcy I would do 6 yr 40 million as the max I would offer him, he declines move him. - sbroads24
LOVE Lindholm...
Bergeron and Zetterberg are perfect comparisons
He's my pick at 8 if he falls
A dream scenario would have Ristolainen fall to 16, but we may have to trade up for him
He's exactly the type defenseman we need
Clears the net, cross checks like a mofo... Just plain nasty to play against
Vanek has got to go
He can't stay healthy for the second half of the season, and this loses most of his value to us. He just isn't the same player.
And our young guys still need time to develop
We're much better served by moving him, and Miller. Get a return of young talent that can grow with our next "core" |

Ehrhoff For Jeff Skinner. - sbroads24
Hmmmm....
Ehrhoff is the kind of player that can be effective into his mid-late30s (like Rafalski, Lidstrom, etc)...
But if Carolina is looking for defense, maybe he can be the centerpiece to move up to 5...
But I'm only doin that if Barkov is there
Could Nashville be looking for a partner for Weber?
Maybe Ehrhoff is a guy they'd like?
Along with #16, where they could grab a center like Lazar... Maybe that could be a package they'd be interested in?
Or maybe they'd want a guy like Ennis who can play now?
I could be hoping for too much here
But a team like Philly at 11 could be very interested in Ehrhoff
There's prob quite a few teams that would like him, ESP at only a 4mil cap hit considering what defensemen are going for now |

Plus the guy only has 22m left on his deal over 8 years. That is a steal for any team with cap or cash problems. |

ok, I don't usually complain about things like this, but this is getting beyond a joke, is there basically just that little Sabres stuff to talk about, what the hell is Andy Delmore doing these days ? But on topic, the Kings are obviously a better side than the Sabres, but Regher still sucked, he brought nothing of what he was supposed to bring to the side. |

Very interesting trade, but Canes are looking for size on the W, and trying to get more defensive on D, how bout
Sekera, Stafford, 16th pick
for
Skinner, McBain, 2nd rd pick - Ur Not Me
size on winger and you then state Stafford..
defensive on D and you then state Sekera..
interesting.
how about McNabb, Foligno and 16th for Skinner and McBain |

I want Lindholm or Monahan at 8 and I think that pick is a good one.
at 16 we can go a few different ways but maybe that pick will be used in a trade. Regardless if you want Skinner, Stafford is not in the deal.. |

I like the sounds of Monahan, but I think the Flames will grab him at 6 if hes there. So I think the Sabres and Flames might be trading partners again.
Flames get:
8th overall +16th overall
Sabres get:
6th overall + 28nd overall
Sabres benefit because they can either get Nichkushkin or Monahan, while the Flames can better restock their prospect pool with the 16th instead of the 28th while not giving up too much in terms of picking 8th instead of 6th. Thoughts? |

You don't think Carolina or Nashville will take him?? Who do you have in front of him going to those teams? At 6.. it will be Nurse, Monahan, Risto, or Lindholm available IMO

1. Colorado – Seth Jones
Patrick Roy is doing what any team would do in saying they are looking at all options with this pick but unless someone is giving them an offer they can’t refuse it just makes sense to pick a near lock as a cornerstone defensemen that COL has lacked for quite some time.
2. Florida - Nathan Mackinnon
Just a complete forward. Not on the same level as a Crosby as some have said but he should be a very good player for whoever drafts him. I could see him more like a Toews. Florida would like a winger for play with Huberdeau but Florida will love to see the 1-2 punch of him and Mackinnon for years to come. Exit Weiss, enter Mac.
3. Tampa Bay – Valeri Nichushkin
Many people have Jonathan Drouin as a potential pick as he makes his teammates around him better and has unbelievable hands. Yet when Valeri Nichushkin said his KHL contract is being ripped up and he is coming to the NHL it is very hard to pass on that kind of size and talent.
4. Nashville – Aleksandr Barkov
Nashville will be ecstatic to see Barkov is still on the board and the pick will come within seconds. Barkov is possibly NHL ready by next year and a solid two way forward. Barkov and Filip Forsberg is something to really look forward to if you are a Preds fan.
5. Carolina – Jonathan Drouin
I could see Rutherford making a trade out of this spot as many teams will be drooling at the fact Drouin has dropped this far but if he were to keep it Drouin would be the obvious choice.
6. Calgary - Sean Monahan
If Calgary does not pick a center I would be utterly shocked. Monahan is the leader and top line center the Flames have desperately wanted for years. Easy selection.
7. Edmonton - Elias Lindholm
Tough choice on this one. On one hand I could see EDM looking to find more defensemen to build around J. Schultz, yet on the other hand I see Gagner leaving the team soon and they could acquire a dman through a trade with him and complete a very young and competitive top 6 with the pick of the very talented Swede in Lindholm.
8. Buffalo - Hunter Shinkaruk
Buffalo’s top options here are Shinkaruk and Nurse. Given they reloaded at center last year with Grigorenko and Girgensons and already have Hodgson they will need someone to play along side them especially if Vanek is gone. Shinkaruk is highly skilled and should be able to put a lot of pucks into the net in the near future.
9. New Jersey - Frederik Gauthier
A talented center who puts up points and known well for his defensive ability.
10. Dallas - Darnell Nurse
Nurse brings the hard hitting, in your face game that Jim Nill covets and saw success in from players like Kronwall and Ericsson in Detroit.
EDIT: Wrote this awhile back. Sorry for length but might help point come across |

Nice work... Gauthier at 9 isn't a common pick among the mock drafts I have read. I can see Nichushkin getting picked early like this or him dropping.. it just depends on how much the Russian factor falls in to place. I do think that Carolina is the most likely team to trade back here. I think that EDM is very likely to take Nurse but your reasoning is good for why not. I am starting to really like the chances of Buffalo Shinkaruk at 8 too now. From what I hear... he is the kind of guy we need... aggressive 5'11 guy that is tough as nails but still can bury the puck about 30 times a year. I think he could be a Pominville type guy but with slightly more offense than defensive prowess. I don't see Shinkaruk on the PK. |
