Patrice Bergeron is great, but the best player in the NHL he is not. - Dirte

Krecji. He carried the Bruins to game 7 against the Leafs. |

Why do people bother with talk of the Conn Smythe before the finals even begin? The trophy is given to the player that is the MVP in the FINALS. Rask could fall flat on his face and the Bruins swept (although not likely) and everything he has done up to this point will be forgotten. |

No, it is an award for the entire playoffs. If you are arguing that people should wait and consider the performances in the SCF, and properly weigh those performances (or even give those performance more weight), then I agree. |

Ahem... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conn_smythe_trophy
I'd give it to Rask, Bergeron, or Kreci as their performances have been more "stand out" at this point. Hard to really point to a specific Hawk as it's been more of a team effort (stars haven't shown up on the scoreboard consistently) and Crawford's just been alright. Would have to pick Bickell--the man's been clutch as hell pretty much all playoffs. |

it's the entire playoffs but the finals are definitely weighted more. bobby lou can tell you more about the scenario you've just described. timmah had the trophy wrapped up before game 7 iirc. |

Plain and simple, if it wasn't for Rask, the Bruins would be tied in the series instead of getting the sweep. Pittsburg was all over the bruins defence in the last two games and man did Rask bail them out. |

Dion Phaneuf. The Bruins wouldn't be where they are today without his performance in game 7 of the 1st round. |

Then how the hell did Toews win it in 2010 instead of Keith? |

It is Rask's to loose right now , If he shuts down Chicago the way he shut down Pittsburgh . There won't even be a discussion |

I think you’re totally right. It’s not like he had excellent stats in the Finnish league at just 18 years old. Not a first round pick. Oh, and he didn’t put up pretty solid AHL stats at 20 and 21. And he totally didn’t put up some of the best stats in the Czech league during the lockout.
None of these things happened. At all. He’s nothing without Boston’s D.
