hey man like i said i'd pick kessel over seguin straight up any day of the week.

but seguin would be your teams top center.

it's irrelevant though because if the trade never happened, nobody knows if you would've finished with the 2nd overall pick and 10th overall pick. you could've finished with a mid round pick or something. you just never know.

I think Boston is happy with how things have gone since the trades.

For sure they are. They are a terrific team and know how to win.

Particularly the Raycroft for Rask trade, which just might be the worst trade in Maple Leaf history when it's all said and done.

If you a) actually watched the playoffs or b) knew what you were watching, you would know Gardiner was probably the best offensive d-man on either team in the Bruins series. He is still learning how to play NHL level defense , as Justin Schultz should be.

Gagner is OK but as you said, a 2nd line centre.

If you think you are going to get A level defense talent for spare parts, think again.

- Rang

Your saying he's elite talent because he played good in one playoff series. Sam ganger had more points in one game (8) then gardner had in had in half a season.

Gardnier didnt play most of the season as he was still recovering from a concussion and also took some time to get back to his old self. Oh wow gagner had one amazing game lets throw it into every argument

I a saying he is elite talent based on 22 years of coaching and 25 years of playing at a high level, and after watching him for the past 2 seasons, not just one series.

I may be wrong, I have been before and will be again. But I think this guy will win a Norris some day.

As far as Gagner, he is decent and maybe even above average but certainly will never play for Canada at the Olympics. Not close to being elite.

Wow, even trying to keep in mind my homer attitude, I would not take either for Kessel.

Whoever gets the best player wins the trade, except when its the Leafs.

- Aetherial

U did not win that deal. Or even close.

Im hearing gardiners worth based on small samples and potential. And because of this, hes apparently worth more than a young, true 2nd line center that was on pace for 65 points.

But the same fans are saying they mighta won the kessel trade because they currently have the best player in the deal. Ignoring the massive upside and potential of the two they coulda had.

So u get it both ways depending on which one suits ur argument best?

We want that 7th pick if Monahan is still available.

I think it would cost us Rielly .

To get Gardiner from us, who is more of a sure thing, it would have to be Gagner and the 7th overall pick

I would burn the city of EDM down if that happened. Do TO fans not remember when they disliked Kadri and Gardiner 4 months ago? All of the sudden they're elite class

"I want players to be so fit that a forward, if I ask him to play 26 minutes that night, he's going to play 26 minutes at a high level. If we're in a Stanley Cup playoff game and we're in quadruple overtime, he will still be firing on all cylinders.

"That is something that I'm passionate about that will be probably a bit of a challenge on the buy-in. But it's non-negotiable, and there will be buy-in."

Isn't that a little extreme?

You keep Gagner, we keep Gardiner and we'll both be happy.

Time to move on.

You now have a good young coach who will do a good job. Let's see if McTavish has the cojones to do what's right for the franchise and move some of the so called untouchables on your roster for players who know how to win.

I get that Hall, Eberle, RNH, and Yakupov aren't going anywhere. But everyone else should be fair game if you want to improve.

What's up with hartikainen to the khl? And here's an idea for Hemsky. Hemsky to Dallas for radek faska, a first round pick that might take a while to develop but had good size at 6"3

A) Only Cloutier calls them untouchables, although I don't think Hall or RNH are going anywhere.
B) Gardiner has proved next to nothing. You don't trade a 23YO, about to hit his prime, that was just 16th in C scoring and a 7th overall pick, that could become a 1C or top pairing D man, for a guy who'll likely top out as a #3 D man and there's still a lot of risk on that.

Gardiner's a good player. Thanks to a decent playoffs, TO fans think he's as good as mcdonagh

that's waay too much coming EDM's way. Maybe Hemsky and a pick for Faksa, but that's only happen if DAL really likes hemsky

Hemsky for Ballard.

That's the kind of trade you'll get for Hemsky.

5 Million off injured winger with little drive, lots of squandered talent in a system he can't even succeed in despite it's focus on offense.

Another ridiculous trade proposal

True but if playing for the Oilers wore him down he's not about to head to Calgary I think he would be a decent bottom 6er for Vancouver (post-buyout that is, they won't trade for him)
