it's more common than not that young Dmen get bounced around/scratched often. just look at guys like dougie hamilton, del zotto, adam larsson, etc. - rangerdanger94
Good examples. I would add Pronger to that list as he struggled early in his career.

He's not even the type of dman the Oilers need to add - robin_steele264
That too. Hopefully they can add 1 or 2 guys somehow though, even if it's stopgap veteran players until some prospects are ready. Time to start winning next year. |

Why would we trade a mid round pick for a guy who is going to get bought out and we could get him for free. Also Ballard sucks and we don't want your garbage. - Ihatebrianburke
i think ballard is an okay 2nd pairing Dman and a good 3rd pairing Dman. he's a solid depth guy he's just making way too much money for where he should be slotted in a lineup. |

i could see the oilers signing a guy like rozsival.
solid Dman who can eat up 20 minutes a game. |

We want that 7th pick if Monahan is still available.
I think it would cost us Rielly .
To get Gardiner from us, who is more of a sure thing, it would have to be Gagner and the 7th overall pick |

Seguin,Hamilton We just keep the guys we get. I would take either of those guys over Kessel - jaredwildzee
So would I. Franchise center and defensman. Both with size, speed, and skill. Kessel is good but these guys are gonna be awesome. I would kill for Hamilton or Seguin on this team |

As far as sutton goes clouts he retired 2 weeks ago. You need to focus dude.Fistric I think is a better option then potter so we'll use him as number six d. |

Well I don't know that the Oilers will be able to trade him anyway. Especially because he probably really wants to go to Vancouver (where he's from), LA (where a lot of ex-oilers are) or Detroit (where his wife's from).
You never know, we might see him back in 2-3 years time. - Morris
He is actually from the Trail/Castlegar area , closer to Calgary than Vancouver |

Would Franson be enough to move up from 21 to 7? Too much? realistically. - BetterCallSaul
I'd do that deal Franson and #21 overall for #7 overall |

Wow, even trying to keep in mind my homer attitude, I would not take either for Kessel.
Whoever gets the best player wins the trade, except when its the Leafs.

I dunno man. It is an intriguing idea, kind of tough to call. I would hate to lose Franson but I would love that 7th overall pick.

i'd take kessel over seguin and kessel over hamilton on their own. obviously, both for kessel is a lot different.
but kessel can create offense on his own, has speed, has one of the most lethal shots in the entire league, and is very underrated because he just gets shat on by the media. every time kessel has the puck in the offensive zone, my heart stops because i know there's a high chance he's about to bury it. kessel the past season or 2 has reminded me a lot of gaborik his first year in new york when he sniped 42 goals. |

Yeah sequin who was on pace for what 45pts this year on 82 gm schedule and has done poop in the playoffs pretty sure kessel still has more points than seguin and had one round and Hamilton has not yet look spectacular and for all the hype he should be looking amazing in his first year |

Gardiner the healthy scratch/ AHL defenseman is gonna cost one of the best young 2nd line centers in the league (look at the numbers before you open your mouth) and the 7th overall in a very good draft. Get your head checked. Gardiner has potential but isn't worth that. |

He supposed to be a franchise player and worse than the two guys we have already. That was why everyone always said we lost the trade. As of now we have the best player by mile a top ten scorer who as he matured is starting to show the ability to take over the game. |

teubert was the #7 D man for OKC in the playoffs. Don't think he's making a comeback. Davidson, Fedun, Marincin, Musil, Klefbom, and maybe gernat/AHL vet should be the D in OKC. Teubert is gonzo |

If you a) actually watched the playoffs or b) knew what you were watching, you would know Gardiner was probably the best offensive d-man on either team in the Bruins series. He is still learning how to play NHL level defense , as Justin Schultz should be.
Gagner is OK but as you said, a 2nd line centre.
If you think you are going to get A level defense talent for spare parts, think again. |

hey man like i said i'd pick kessel over seguin straight up any day of the week.
but seguin would be your teams top center.
it's irrelevant though because if the trade never happened, nobody knows if you would've finished with the 2nd overall pick and 10th overall pick. you could've finished with a mid round pick or something. you just never know. |

he doesn't do great in the playoffs. He had 67P last year and his SH% dipped a lot. I'd still take the bruins end of the deal on that one |
