Love it.. - Oilfan19
Not one of those guys help your team? Seriously? |

Dany Cleary or Ryane Clowe may be guys that would help the OIL on contracts less than 5 mil. And you gotta bring in Bryz if he is bought out, maybe Jagr UFA too?? - Jimmy_wiener
I like the way you think! I bet Bryz shines once he gets out of the pressure in Philly... - dont care too much for Cleary... and not sure what Clowe is going to do or need.... Jagr is not coming here... |

Emery and Zubrus. The others not so much. |

Im thinking there will be 30 teams sending him offers and hes gunna take the big pay day. You just know hes gunna get a Leino like deal from some poor sap GM. Just hope its not us. I like Bickell at the right price tho. - Oilfan19
Exactly. Mind you he'll probably want to go to a team that he could help. But then I have to wonder why he'd leave Chicago.. It wouldn't make sense for him to do so unless he's making alot more, like you said. |

Bryz or Emery with Dubnyk as the backup would be an Improvement. |

What do you think Bickell gets on the Open Market after a very good playoffs?? 4.5 per for 5 yrs?? |
|
|
|
I think there was a market for Hemsky and even a small one for Horcoft.
But when your GM says they aren't wanted on the team and given that every team knows those are the two guy who will be bought out, that market got a whole lots weaker and smaller. - IanEsplen
Ya I think that was piss poor on MacT's end. Shoulda kept that info internal to max the return. |

Hawks might not have a choice. They are very close to cap and have a couple guys that are looking for pay days this off season |

Noooooo no. Well I hope not. I would say 3-3.5 per for 4 years if someone gets desperate. He's worth around 2.5 considering hes a 3rd liner on most teams. |

Would not surprise me.
Serious question- How do the Oilers plan to lure UFAs to Edmonton without overpaying? Why would Bickell or Clowe etc... not sign somewhere else like Florida, Tampa, NY, Detroit etc...
Would you go to Edmonton if Miami was offering close to the same money? |

Joel Ward. Ville Leino. Tim Connolly. There are a lot of GMs that may be desperate enough to pay him 4.5. Is MacT one of them?? |

True enough. It'd be great if we could pick him up. We already have tonnes of cap space. And after we shed Hemsky's and Horcoff's salaries we'll add on 10.5M. So at this point I don't see overpaying a couple UFAs to come play here for a few years a huge problem. However after it will be an issue later on down the road. |

Kind of a contradiction when Horcoff you say Horcoff will go to a cap floor team, but Horcoff has said he only wants to go to a contender. How many contenders out there have cap space for him? |

Basically were hoping that players see the potential of the team. Its not far off now from being a contender. I dont see bickell signing here to be honest. Unless hes a closet Oilers fan for all his life he doesnt really need to come here. |

Doug Murray may come at a reasonable price to help your D. Or maybe Wade Redden or Ian White |

I get what you're saying.
Honestly, I think you will see the Oilers make at least one stupid money offer that has everyone saying WTF?
Kind of like what Gillis did when he offered Sundin 10 million per.
That kind of move shows everyone you're here to play and you will do what you need to do to win. And that will lead to getting some guys to sign in Edmonton for decent contracts in the future. |

Doug Murray would be a nice pick up for the 5/6 spot. |
