OT, but i see the bruins winning the whole thing here. firing on all cylinders and can beat an opponent in a multitude of ways. i don't think chicago has the mettle to beat them. the only joy i'm getting out of watching the hawks is sharp and zus together reminds me of 2004, my second favorite flyers team ever.

you realize of course this now means chicago will win.

We just need to sit tight and draft our own at 11. It won't be a cakewalk, but all things being equal, the Flyers with a normal offseason and regular season should make the playoffs, with that pick hopefully playing one more year of junior and then making the jump, like Dougie Hamilton did with the Bruins.

I doubt the Flyers were truly thinking they could get Pietrangelo, but I have to admit, I'm somewhat surprised they are so adamant about Shattenkirk -- not that he isn't a valuable player, but they haven't been a cap team in previous years.

I still think that once the Blues sign Pietrangelo, Shattenkirk, Stewart etc..., they are not going to be thrilled with paying JayBo 6.7 million. I believe he can be acquired and it won't cost the 11th pick or Couts or Schenn.

Blues: We’ll match any offer sheet to Pietrangelo, Shattenkirk, Stewart or Berglund
http://prohockeytalk.nbcs...wart-or-berglund/related/

we can scratch all of the blues dmen off our list

I do not think any of the young guys from the Blues can be poached. But, the Blues are going to find it pricey to resign them. I do believe there is a deal for the team that approaches St. Louis and makes a fair offer for J.Bo. The Blues gave up their 2013 1st rout pick #22 plus two mid range prospect. My guess is J.Bo will be dealt for a 1st round pick and a good prospect.

Definitely will cost 1st round pick. St. Louis paid a first rounder for him and would want to recover equal value. More important, several teams would offer up a 1st round pick. So, the base price has been deternmined.

Should be a great series. The one thing Chicago brings to the table more than anyone Boston has faced so far is speed. It seems like nearly every guy on that team can fly. On the other hand, Boston has some good speed too, plays physical, and their 5 man committment to D is incredible.

I think this one will come down to whichever goalie is hotter. If Boston is going to win though, they need to get a split in Chicago and wrap it up in 6. I don't like their chances of winning a game 7 in Chicago.

I have also been on the "Draft D" bandwagon, even if it means not taking a Monahan or Shinkaruk with the 11th. It seems like the only option that doesn't involve losing one or more of the young core. But it's also a 2-3 year plan at best.

One of the things I think of when I see both of these teams play is how deep they both appear to be.

I just don't think any of the top offensive guys from the West face anyone like Chara on a regular basis. If there is a d-man on Chara's level out West, I can't think of who it could be.

I think Boston has better goaltending.

Boston in 6.

I understand your point, but there is some difference between the 11th and 23rd pick. I could see the Flyers trying to swap picks 11 and 41 with Columbus for picks 19 and 22. Then they could package #22 with their 3rd rounder and a prospect for JayBo while still landing a very good prospect with the 19th pick.

How come it only seems that the Flyers have to practically give a player away to avoid cap Hell, and every other team can still get decent value for their salary dumps?!

i think the bruins ferocious team d and goaltending will be enough to hold them off. i'll say bruins in 6, which i can live with. don't want them winning at home.

I actually thought we'd get a Original 6 Finals, but I (stupidly) thought the Habs could put it together going into the playoffs. I thought Chicago would be there when it started.

Its a really tough pick, I'm having a tough time choosing between Chicago in 7 and Boston in 6.

Oh well, can't sit on the fence all day, Boston in 6

Now that I've made my pick, the smart money is on Chicago

What else would you expect them to say when rumors are buzzing about offer sheets to their young stars? And after a dissapointing playoff run where they want to also boost ticket sales for their club etc etc??

Pretty easy comment for them to make at this time.

Briere buyout:

Ok so likely everyone is aware Flyers are buying out Briere, Briere even knows this by now. SO why doesn't the Flyers call in Danny and say, Danny we are going to buy you out (give him the whole thank you for being apart of this team blah blah) and politely ask him. listen, we are trying to improve this team moving forward would you waive your no trade clause and give us a list of teams your willing to go to and save us a buyout and allow us to get some asset(s) in return to help us. And you keep reminding him it doesn't matter if you say yes or no your ass is still being bought out , but you could help us moving forward.

Seriously tho why would this not be a possibility? His actual $$ owed is low for a team wanting a vet player and it wouldnt cost much to acquire him as the Flyers just want to rid that contract and save a buyout.

- Buzzo

this is the conversation to have w/ briere.......we need to buy you out and send you on your way....you have been a good soldier but we need you to waive ur NTC and if you do ...... you'll have a job here after you retire from playing.....we'll take care of you if you take care of us....

All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what has the Power Play ever done for us?

If they deal J.Bo in the next month they will free $7m and that will make it pretty easy to protect their young players.

I agree on the Bruins. Their star players are playing like stars, their depth players have stepped up big time and their defense and goaltending has been phenomenol. Chicago is good but Toews & Kane have been inconsistent.

I wouldn't trade the 11th pick for J Bo, although I wouldn't mind him on the Flyers.
