worse pick, no big-name UFAs, and a GM not known for bold moves.

I think you're just lowering your expectations for the off season so u can be more excited with the moves they make. You think after a taste of playoffs the MLSE brass isn't going to want Nonis to do a little more to get the team back into the playoffs? I don't know if any bold moves are necessary but he does have the cap space and assets to do so if he pleases.

I agree with that. Several smaller moves might be just as good as trying to make a big move. Btw, wasn't Tuuka Rask picked at #21?

Pretty sure Rask,Giroux,Del Zotto,Eberle,Pacioretty,Varlamov,Getzlaf,Burns,Kessler,Richards were all drafted in that range. There's always gems taken late in the first.

Exactly. If the Leafs don't trade up they probably won't get anyone who steps into the lineup this year or next but they can still get a good player for down the road.

I think we're drafting too damn low to move up, It's gonna cost us way to much to move up. If we're going to move assets(like Gardiner) and our pick(#21) isn't that enough to start negotiating for an elite top 6 center? Am I overvaluing Gardiner too much>

I'm rooting for a sweep by either team in the scf just so we can get the offseason started. Is anyone else more excited about this offseason as opposed to the last 8 or 9? - coolehmon41
The offseason is always the best part of the year for leaf fans.

The wild card is Tim Liewicki who seems to be looking to make a big first impression. Will be interesting to see if Nonis feels pressure, whether directly or indirectly, to make some kind of big move.

It all depends what teams are keying in on. If a team is looking to pick someone that isn't expected to go till late first/early second getting the player you want plus another second becomes an attractive option.
