I think MacTavish will end up trading Yakupov. Don't know if it's this year but eventually

There is only a couple teams I could bare to see him go to... Edmonton being one of them. I hope he does well
- senstroll

Edmonton and Colorado- two teams I'll cheer for whenever they're not playing the Leafs.

Good franchises, good fans, exciting young teams.

I'm also glad Dallas went there and not, say, Vancouver. I hope he does great things there, and when his time is up there, I'd love to see him back in TO, as the Leafs' head coach.

What we saw from Gardiner in the playoffs- the better commitment to defensive play(even if he still made some mistakes) and the willingness to play the body... That's what he needed to work on during the lockout. It's a shame that concussion knocked him out for most of the season, could've been a big one for him.

Nazim Kadri... Another example of a soft player who got a lot grittier
- robin_steele264

Kadri had grit- just not the size to back it up.

What Eakins helped him do was find the balance between playing his skill game, and being responsible.

At the begninning of this last season, in the AHL, Kadri was playing defense and staying away from doing any thing dangerous in the attacking zone, because Wilson wouldn't keep him up on his offensive merits if his defense wasn't perfect.

Eakins sat him, had a chat about how he should be playing, and bam- over PPG for the rest of the season in the AHL, and near PPG in the NHL.

We wont be paying him top 6 Money. That Money will be going to one of: Richards, Ribeiro or Roy. Not Ballsack.
- Jimmy_wiener

seriously... Richards at the right price and duration perhaps...

Ribero?
Roy?

are you trying to reincarnate the diving fish of Vancouver? both of those guys will pull a Plekanec... sign the deal and disappear, except of course to slash the other team's enforcer and almost get two teammates killed...

better off taking an RFA shot at Berglund ...

neither of those guys will improve who's already on the club... they've made their statistical results on teh back of others.

No, he really isn't. Plus he brings a lot of extras to the room. You would want Bozak at 4.5 mil for 3 years over Roy at 4.5 for 3??
- Jimmy_wiener

I would want Bozak at 4M per year for 4 years over Roy at the 5+ he's going to want for a bunch of years.

Does it ever occur to anyone why guys like Ribero, Roy move from club to club?

Ribeiro played for 3 NHL teams in over 12 years.

Wendel Clark played for 7 teams in 14 years.

I heard that Clark wasn't liked in the dressing room, most notably the showers.

well leave up to a Habs fan to come up with a completely crazy comparison.

would Ribeiro be welcomed back by the Habs?
Clark by the Leafs in a heart beat.
Gilmour played for a bunch of teams as well, so I guess you'd consider him in the same breath as Ribeiro and Roy too?

Simply pointing out how stupid your point was in the first place.

Edit: Ribeiro would be the Leafs, and Habs, best centerman, by a mile.

pfft, obviously the point went over your head or you have reading comprehension problems, Clark doesn't have a french sounding name at all.

You can teach a guy to play relentlessly. Absolutely. Lots of guys change their style like this. Look at Steve Yzerman for one... He learned to play a grittier, more defensive game.

MacT was a great coach for teaching guys to block shots and whatnot.

Those attributes are very coachable.

You can't teach a guy to go out and score 30 goals.

You can teach him to check and compete night in night out.

He'd likely be welcomed back to the room with a big round of "HEY STRETCH....WHERE YA BEEN??"

No, time for bozak to move on. That's too much for a 2nd or 3rd line center
