bingo, he's a middle of the road player.

Not exceptionally good at any one thing (despite his 52.6% dominance in the face off circle as some would point to). But also, not someone you have to worry about on the ice either, fairly responsible.

edit: too small for third line, not skilled enough for first line. 2nd line center on a team looking for a stop gap centerman would be a good fit

- dragus84

Thats how I would describe a 3rd line Center

Tweener. He's gonna get overpaid still.

Checking and defense can be coached and learned though. Maybe if he wasn't miss cast he be better at the role. But it seems dumb to pay him top 6 money to put him in a bottom 6 role.

He's missing far to many other elements to be a 3rd line. Size. Grit, shutdown ability. Good on the faceoffs and nothing else doesn't make for a good 3rd liner.

Don't see anything wrong with his size...

Grit and shutdown ability... That's coachable stuff.

We wont be paying him top 6 Money. That Money will be going to one of: Richards, Ribeiro or Roy. Not Ballsack.

Grit isn't coachable. It's not a skill, its an attribute.

for those saying bozak is too small to be a third line centre lets look at the two cup finalists this year

Boston: Chris Kelly
198 lbs / 6 feet tall

Chicago: Andrew Shaw
180 lbs / 5'-10"

compared to Tyler Bozak
195lbs / 6-1"

dont get me wrong.. i am not a fan of bozak.. if he signs for less than 3million then fine. but the argument that he isnt big enough to play 3rd line centre is well.. uninformed and simply not true at all.

Bozak plays smaller than both those players. Both those guys much grittier.

I think in this case the cliche "he plays smaller than he is" applies

when i'm watching bozak out there he plays like he's 5'8", 170

i agree with you in saying i'm not particularly a fan of his, but also don't have a hate on for him either. he's just "meh" to me

No, he really isn't. Plus he brings a lot of extras to the room. You would want Bozak at 4.5 mil for 3 years over Roy at 4.5 for 3??

Roy sucks. He's not better than bozak.

And he brings nothing to the room... That is some dort of joke right. Sabres could get rid of him quick enough, me first. I don't want him to bring that the the room.

that wasnt the argument

it was specifically "he's too small"

he isnt too small.. . but i agree he isnt overly physical at all.
