"The heavily-favored Penguins were embarrassingly swept out of the playoffs in four games by the less talented, more physical, more systematically-correct Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference Finals"
1) I don't think the Pen's were heavily favored in this series, they were maybe favored to win in 6 or 7, same could be said about Boston.
2) How was Boston "less-talented", they have NHL players who played a sound team game. Granted Pitt may have had more "superstar" names but by no stretch of the imagination could you go out and call Boston less talented. The only thing Pitt had over Boston was their forwards were individually/numbers better, when you talk about D-men comparison Boston wins, Goal tending (hahahahaha) yea I would give the nod to Boston as well.
3) In fact you could make the argument that Bostons bottom 6 forwards are more "talented" than the bottom 6 of the Pens, in terms of how they play as a unit.

I don't think anyone was surprised that Boston beat Pitt,.. but the fact that they were swept was a little shocking.. Pitt is more talented according to ESPN because they only know who Crosby and Malkin are, hell they probably have never heard of Chara.

There are more whiney b*tches on this site than in your city pound. You can talk about anything you want in here, so why does it matter what the blogger writes? Obviously Ek allows Garth and others to write about other teams. It's going to happen, especially in the offseason, so the sooner you get use to it, the quicker you will experience..... serenity now!!

I agree with Gil on this.
It's like the posters that insist on banging on Garth's misspelling of words at times.
We all err people. All of us.
It just gets soooo old.
Just let it go.

Facts have no meaning here. Garth couldn't even get how many series wins the Pens have correct.

Only scoring 2 goals in an entire series is shocking to me. If BOS wins the cup, Chara deserves the Conn Smythe
Gerbe brought up the idea of trading Ehrhoff in the last thread...
I could see that
He's older, which doesn't really fit our rebuild
But he's a good player signed to a very reasonable cap hit, so he would prob be of interest to a number of teams
It makes sense to me
If we are getting rid of Vanek & Miller, I can't see why guys like Ott & Ehrhoff would wanna stick around?
And since we could prob get good value for all of the above mentioned, I'd certainly think Darcy would consider it - jdfitz77
Even though all of these are valid points there is one key thing left out here, he's got a full NMC. As you brought up, he's got a ton of league wide interest/value which as a result gives him a ton of leverage a la Iginla or Nash. Sure he'll submit a list of 5 or 6 teams but the reality is he'll have 1 team on his mind and as soon as that team catches on (like NYR and Pit) they will lowball us so hard you'd think we were trading them Stafford.

Everyday its the same people complaining about garth, shut up , dont read the blog you retard, grown men acting like little girls. He obviously knows what he is doing, hes a nhl fan not just a.sabres fan. - 716buffalo
Dan Bylsma is a good coach, unfortunately for him he had a group of good players playing a team that have been together for a long time. Chemistry, familiarity and cohesiveness can go all the way to the finals.

No point in trading Hoff.
Unless a team like Philly would give us Couterier and another nice piece
I hate that word rebuild! Anyone else think we may be jumping the gun? I mean it was the lockout.season, what if the franchise is over re acting? I think terry pegula is the problem. just looking fwd to a good camp this year. It makes me mad because last year they could play with anybody. .
I think Jones is going to be that good.. Miller is not staying with Buffalo much longer. - SabresFaninIndiana
That's probably the going rate for the #1 pick. The question is whether you feel it is worth it or not, which explains why those picks are hardly dealt. IMO if it did happen, we'd be taking Mackinnon.

I originally had the #16 in there instead.. - SabresFaninIndiana
Perhaps I am unaware of how good Jones can turn out to be. Which is thoroughly possible mind you. I am no guru on the prospects by no means!
But Hoff/Miller and #16 still seems like too much for my liking.
I do agree with you that I think it is just a formality and an announcement that Miller will no longer be a Buffalo Sabre.

I think it is plain and simple they were not good enough.. unless all you want is to get into the playoffs they needed major changes. They were not mentally or physically strong enough to hang in the playoffs and win the cup. The goal is to win the cup not to be in the playoffs and ousted in the first round every year.. therefore change was needed
ehrhoff, miller and the #8 to the avs for seth jones - SabresFaninIndiana
I think it is a great proposal....Miller is gone anyways, Ehrhoff is good but really isn't making a difference on this team and the 8th for the 1st overall.....I think Colorado would say NO.

I don't think either GM would have the balls to make that trade.
