Call me stupid, but can't we trade cash as part of any deal to get into the top 3? I'm pretty sure that Colorado does pretty well, but Florida could probably use a "capital injection." Now obviously, it would cost A LOT more than a few mil to get that number 2 pick, but it could sweeten the deal considerably. This is all moot of course, if you cant trade cash. Just throwing out an idea...

Well I'm pretty sure history answers the question, I can't recall any trade in the NHL within the past decade that involved straight up cash payment. Seems a little unethical if you ask me. I don't want to "Buy" the team, we aren't the Yankees.

I doubt they'd outright fire him, he and his team made it to the conference finals. He may be overrated but I doubt his boss thinks that's the case considering how far they got. You can never trust GM's to make the most sensible decision.
