Call me stupid, but can't we trade cash as part of any deal to get into the top 3? I'm pretty sure that Colorado does pretty well, but Florida could probably use a "capital injection." Now obviously, it would cost A LOT more than a few mil to get that number 2 pick, but it could sweeten the deal considerably. This is all moot of course, if you cant trade cash. Just throwing out an idea... - JAT27
If by cash you mean offering to pay for parts of the contracts of players we trade... than yes. Otherwise........... |

poop if he takes 6 mil sign me up. I don't see that happening though. - Tsyolin
Vanek for 3 years and 18M wouldn't be bad...
But I don't see him taking anything less than 6.5M or so...
As long as it is not a Max contract for 4+ years I would be happy with him staying.. as he is the only legit proven 1st liner we have. |

I think only basketball can just send $5M to a team for a player.. maybe baseball can too. |

Well I'm pretty sure history answers the question, I can't recall any trade in the NHL within the past decade that involved straight up cash payment. Seems a little unethical if you ask me. I don't want to "Buy" the team, we aren't the Yankees. |

Grigs coax of linemates???? Please say your kidding...
Gerbe, kaleta, scott, hecht, porter....
I am SHOCKED that they werent able to get grigo to score more points.. sHOCKED i tell you... Just SHOCKED!!!!! - JVince11
He played on every line with every player. He was unproductive with all of them.
Bestsabreeverenko had 1 goal 5 points.
Edit: For everyone sanity I hope he is as good as the hype machine has him made out to be, Armia too. I just don't put all my hopes on the unproven. |

I know that 15 mil exchanged hands in the Gretzky trade to the Kings. (I feel like a clown using a trade 25 years ago..)
I agree about not wanting to buy the team, but if it was available to you, you would reject? |

Again, I'm gonna let the kid play a full season before passing my final judgement, same with Rolston as the coach. |

If he does stay, I see it a long length contract for around 6 mill cap hit per year. He will end his career as a sabre. |

he played on every line with every player?? I am blown away by this... he never spent time on the 1st or 2nd line...
he was put on the 3rd or 4th line every time. |

I have to know what the trade is first. Also, I found this useful explanation of the new "retaining contract" trades that are allowed under the new CBA.
1. Teams can only have three contracts on the books where they’ve retained salary in a trade
2. Teams can keep only up to 15 per cent of the salary cap in a given year, meaning they would max out at $9.645-million under the $64.3-million cap that’s likely to be in place in 2013-14 and 2014-15
3. Only 50 per cent of a contract can be kept
4. A contract can only be traded in one of these deals twice

and Darcy will remain as a sh1tty GM who would need to be fired.
Do you not see that he went from 40 goals in 2007....
to 28
to 32
to 26
then 20 this past season with 11 in his first 11 games and 9 in his final 27.
This is called the downward spiral of aging players.

If we can manage a contract like that than I am on board, but I seriously doubt that happens. |

Grigs with Armia might be nice or at least in top 6. Really would like to see Ennis move to wing where i think he is better at. |

Gotta go for lunch.. but i will drop this before i do because all of this Vanek talk is driving me nuts.....
Sekera, Stafford/Flynn, and 8th overall to Car for 5th overall and a 3rd rounder.
Draft Nichushkin.
Trade Miller and Ennis to WSH for Kuznetsov, Erat's contract, and 23rd overall. We might have to eat some of Miller contract or a clause on if he doesn't resign we owe them a pick.
Draft at 16 for Zadorov or Puluck
Draft at 23rd for Erne, Gauthier, Morin, Lehkonen, or Morrisey
Vanek - Coho - Nichushkin
Armia - Grigo - Ott
Erat - Foligno - Leino
Tropp - Porter - Kaleta
Scott
Ehrhoff - Pysyk
Myers - McNabb
Weber - Ruhwedel/Zadorov/Puluck
Enroth
Hackett
I wouldn't be against buying out Leino or Erat and bringing up Larsson/Girgensons/Kuznetsov
I wouldn't be against trying to resign Adam Pardy on the cheap either. 2 year/3M deal maybe?
Thoughts? Prayers?
I'll be back after lunch. |

I love every single move and it actually makes decent sense. Id say try for Z first if not then Pulock is fine. and Erne sounds good too |

I doubt they'd outright fire him, he and his team made it to the conference finals. He may be overrated but I doubt his boss thinks that's the case considering how far they got. You can never trust GM's to make the most sensible decision. |

Its because Garth is one of the founding members of the site along with Ek and a few others. He can pretty much do whatever he wants as long as he keeps getting hits. |

Pffft whatever, I don't need anymore Kennedys on this team haha. I was glad enough to have gotten rid of the last one. |

Michael Stuart (TBL Blogger) actually got pretty offended when someone compared him to Garf, it was hilarious. |
