i don't really disagree with any of this, but unrestricted free agency is the deterrent for me. the amount of bad contracts signed is overwhelming, and anyone with any sort of hype is going to be overpaid. i bet even gordon gets the matthew lombardi contract, and it becomes an issue down the road.
would love to have clarkson, but he strikes me as a better colby armstrong (when colby signed his free agency contract). i'm almost willing to bet he gets grossly overpaid, and fizzles well before the end of his contract. - joel878

love it.
unfortunately.. the 2nd part of that equation requires them actually wanting to sign here. no idea why either guy would want to leave boston if they had the choice. |

agreed on 2 and 3.
not so sure why people think boston has no money though.
they've got about 24 mil in space going into the summer.
ufa - jagr, horton, pandolfo, ference, redden, khubodin
rfa - rask, daugavins
they're actually in a fairly decent position. |

CapGeek has them at only 5.8 Cap Space free this summer, which is going to rask most of it. So therefore, horton and ference cannot resign. |

a linear unit of measurement equalling the length of ones forearm, from the elbow to the tip of their middle finger. generally between 17-21 inches.
Also a gameshow for a brief period a couple years ago on Discovery channel, similar to Jeopardy. I liked it, but I guess it didnt catch on. - UsernameUnknown

not sure on savard.. i think his injury situation complicates a buyout. kelly for sure, think peverly is another candidate |

for sure it is. i think in prongers case it has something to do with being a 35+ contract? not sure how it works in savards case. i always thought LTIR didn't count against cap, but couldn't be bought out?
now i'm wondering if i have any idea what i'm talking about |

Pronger's is a 35+ contract so they won't get any relief from his Cap hit if he retires. BUT if he stays on LTIR they DO get relief.
So it behooves them to keep him on the 50 man roster. Pretty shady since everyone knows he won't play again, but not against the rules. |

2017. The funny thing is that Holmgren really did screw up. The contract was agreed on prior to Pronger being 35 so they thought they were exempt. But since it didn't actually kick in until after if became a 35+ contract.

Hope he can put on a little more size though, and not be as intimidated by the older NHL players. - stevecarpetman
He's a lot bigger then Komarov. As for being intimidated though thats different story |

He has pile driven that team contract wise.
He's basically mike gillis with better youth right now.. But I few more poorly managed seasons away from being Scott howson. |
