Is Vancouver likely to offer their 3 RFAs? Especially the two Dmen?

Keep 7 & 11, and then use the two second rounders (37 & 41) to land a late first rounder and a shot at Hagg or Morin
- Jsaquella

Now that's even better. Your getting three players for Couturier. That's something to think about.

The Flyers could still move Read (if they like) for Bernier or in a package deal for Yandle or Edler.

I'd guess they'd at least give them QO's, to retain rights. It'll be really interesting to watch the Canucks, see who they use CBO's on

That is likely a best case scenario, but even if they get the 7th and a 2nd for Couturier, maybe they could move the 11th overall for a defenseman, as well. It opens a lot of options.

Yeah, I'd watch them closely. They're in cap hell. They need 5 players and are over the cap. They may decide to move a Dman instead of using a buyout. I posted this in this thread by accident, but they would be a partner I'd be looking at to improve.

is the 7th pick going to better than Couts?

I like Cloutier's blog. Flyers are going to trade Couturier to move up 4 spots in the draft? Yea, okay!
- MJL

I thought he said klefbom and the 7th for cooter. I don't think he mentioned our op pick. Id prob do that deal. Not sure though

I wouldn't trade Couts for the 7th pick and a second rounder.

I wouldn't do that as well. But if you could turn the two second rounders for, say, Clb's 27th or Cal's 29th, then it gets a bit more interesting.

What if they get Nurse at 7 and still have another pick at 11? While also using both seconds to possible move up into the late first round.

Still have the ability to trade Read+ for Yandle or Edler.

The Flyers have options.

I'm not looking for drastic changes but just throwing out some ideas that seem pretty reasonable.

I dont buy that whole mono deal, I just dont. Thats like saying if Jones broke his foot or missed some time he would have slipped. A top 3 player is a top 3 player regardless of a temporary illness. I think Coots is a good player, but I think he was drafted where he should have been.

Very possibly. Depends what happens. Sean Monahan, who could be a very similar player to Couturier could easily be on the board at 7

If they traded Couturier for the 7th pick and used it on Nurse, I'd be disappointed

Just throwing out a defenseman. You can slot in who ever you like at 7.

If it were me, I'd try to trade up and get MacKinnon, Jones, Barkov, Drouin or Nichushkin

Happens all the time at drafts but one of those players will probably be there at #7.

Two thoughts... Can anyone name the last 3 goalies that ended a season and were ineligible for a buy out? I can't. Are we making a huge deal about the risk of letting bryz play one more season before a CBO? Bryz and mason are a better tandom than any other fa option I can think of... At least if we want to win now.

Second. If you were matt read would you sign a contract extension with the flyers before July 1st 2014? Consider he would not have a ntc/nmc until a new contract kicked in.... The flyers trade history of late (carts, jvr, richie)..... The recent rumors involving read,.... The fact as a ufa he'd make more money AND control where he lands?

Bryz is average to below average since being here. Why risk being stuck with that terrible contract? Time to move on.
