What I don't understand is why the Blues would want Miller? They started the year with Halak who IMO is better than Miller and using Jake Allen as a backup who is suppose to be the next big thing. Obviously they like them as they weren't playing Elliot who just got off a season with 9 SOs. Then Elliot gets his shot and takes over. Again proving he is an elite goalie. So now they have two starters that are arguably better than Miller and Jake Allen who they really want to play. They aren't going to part with Allen. Elliot makes a 1.5 a year so he is safe and Halak gets paid less than Miller.
St. Louis has a bunch of RFA's, good ones, that need resigning. Plus they need a Center. The only way this makes sense is if St. Louis is trading Elliot and Halak. I just don't see a reason you trade a 1.5 mill goalie that is doing so well for a worse goalie that adds almost 4 mill cap space. In fact there is no team in the league that needs miller less than St. louis. - bsteinley

I'm thinking of becoming a season ticket holder here at hockeybuzz.com, but first I need to know how accurate this rumor chart has been in the past..
So Ticket Holders, clue me in would ya? - oilers2k14
The rumor chart is not accurate at all. I am a ticket holder because it is cheap and I like to support the site. As an Oiler fan the chart will frustrate you to no end. The Oilers are always most likely to sign people that make no sense for them to sign like Ryan Whitney and least likely to go after guys that MacT has says he wants. Like large bottom 6 players, a top d, a replacement for Hemsky and a backup goalie. The chart is bias towards large market teams, particularly in the east. Most of them make no sense either. Such as St.Louis with their 3 NHL ready goalies going after Miller when they actually need a center and they have two goalies that are better than Miller who get paid less.
Random rumors for the teams with the most fans. Then the teams with the least get thrown in occasionally as filler with no real thought to what the GM is actually talking about. You want to know, hit the teams bloggers occasionally. Read the headlines and you are up to better off. Most years are better than this one but usually I would say the only ones that are right is the ones he predicts to stay with the team they are with (which he does with almost all players to some percentage). |

So I guess people forgot about Gonchar stepping up when Karlsson went down and being a big reason they kept rolling. Now in Dallas he has the same role that he has filled adequately. Dallas overpaid slightly to get experience that will slot into their top 4. - Jay Uller
It's a lot of money to spend on a 40 year old, especially over two years, for a team that has no chance of contending. It's a lot of money to spend on a 40 year old, especially over two years, for anyone. |

Great for the PP brutal for even strength. Streit can still get you points on the PP but he can't be getting top pairing minutes overall. Absolute train wreck in his own zone and I like the guy and its not a typical bashing from a fan of a player who just left his team. Just the truth - Vukota
Interesting. I have only seen him live 4 times in the last 2 years and I thought he was really good two ways. Must have been just good nights. Either way the Oilers have defensive forwards as well. Smid, Nick, Belov, Klefbom... He can rotate if it becomes a problem. Still I think overall with the age of the defensive core the Oilers have, a veteran like Streit would be a great player for them to play with. Right now the best dman these guys have played with is Smid.
Streit might not be the perfect fit but he is probably the Oilers only option. |

It's a horrible, horrible, horrible signing. Kicking off the summer (not even summer yet) with a totally retarded signing. idiots. - Dirte
2 points behind Toronto's top point getting defenceman. 1 behind the 6.5 million dollar man. |

Two years is nothing, Tim Connolololly showed us that. Gonchar has been just fine |

He's 40, and rarely plays a full season anymore. Calling this season a full season, it's the first he's played in 6 years. What are the chances they get a full season out of him this year? I wouldn't say they're very good. |

Who cares about Hemsky (Oilers will probably get something decent in return maybe?) what Oiler fans want to know Ek is just who and what could MacT possibly get for Shawn Horcoff? - Jodes
is this a joke? i sorta detect some sarcasm, but im not sure
we already know. nothing. its a buyout or he stays an oiler |

Yeah, Connolly was awesome.
I get the idea of filling a hole, and it not being a good deal on a short term contract, but he's 40. The chance of it working out is pretty minimal, on a two year deal. |

good post.
he's a quality offensive dman, and we need help in all areas. but he certainly wouldn't be paired with Schultz 5v5.
second pairing with petry or smid most likely.
mact needs to make a trade too. streit cant be our only addition (along with possible rookies klefbom-prob needs a year in the A etc) to our backend.
and NOT at 5.5!!! |

I agree he'll help you in some areas and he'll hurt you in others. The Isles still wanted to sign him but they offered him 3 yrs at like 4.5 mil a year he knows he'll get 5 or 6 on the open market and the Isles aren't doing that |

If you knew anything about the Stars, you'd know he's a huge upgrade and that his age and price are irrelevant.
He's a stop-gap defender. He will play a ton of top 4 minutes for us until guys like Oleksiak, Morrow, Nemeth, Gaunce, Connauton, etc are ready. |

age can't be seen as such a major sticking point when guys like Nabby, Jags, Lidstrom have all recently proven that age isn't everything. He wont be faced with much defensive minutes. If they use him as he should be he will be resonsible for putting pucks on net and generating rebounds. He won't be a guy that carries the team, but will be effective in areas Dallas needs to improve on, mainly the pp and generating offense from the backend which is thin after Gologoski (sp?) |

well since your the self proclaimed expert on the stars; 'stop gaps' don't need to be paid 5 million a year.
and buddy didn't say he was terrible, he said chances are he wont be playing 82 games a year or close. seems like a lot to pay an oft injured 39 year old |

So, you wouldn't pay a 26 year old Norris finalist $7m, but you'll pay a 39 year old broken down dman $5M?
If you knew anything about.... well, anything.... you would know that's pretty stupid. |

Small sample size. Not even close to indicative of his overall game. |
