I personally wouldn't go with Stevens, so I'm not listening to Botchford. I've been as off the board as anyone with Boucher. I like Desjardins, too.

I wasn't referring to you with the Botchford comment... I'm referring to everyone I've had a conversation with in this GD city for the past week. (frank)ing sheeple.

If it makes you feel any better, after those 3 guys, Boucher would be next.

Are the Canucks planning on being a young team?
- djamon

Yes, transitioning towards that in the next three years I would imagine. Can't see them only wanting a coach for a couple of years. Short term and long term success are needed here.

I'm not trying to convince anyone here. The only guy I need to convince is Michael D. Gillis

Then Eakins would have been a great hire.

He's done great things with the Marlies. He's been a tough, no BS guy who manages to nurture them at the same time. Plays great systems to protect the goalie. Good with the media too.

Will. Never. Happen. Boucher hasn't even been rumoured yet so I have my doubts that it will be him. I never had Eakins at the top of my list, but I was okay with him as well, I agree that it would be a risk bringing him in to coach a veteran team after he's mainly coached prospects and AHL scrubs(much easier to motivate and coach those guys).

I still like Tippet alot. He's had good offensive teams in Dallas before, I like how he keeps track of all his players with his own stats and research and plays them using those numbers instead of just playing favourites. Boucher intruiges me, but it seems like he would either be a great hire or a disaster. No thanks to Ruff, Stevens and Torts(although he would be entertaining ).

Eakins is a great hire for the OILERS. Wouldn't have been for the Canucks.

If AV had some of those teams he probably would have. Ask Pens fans what they have thought of Bylsma. He runs a very similar system to AV as well(I can find some quotes/links about that if you want). And he's been outcoached during many playoff series but having two of the best players in the world and some really good teams can bail you out.

Didn't AV go to game 7 of the SCF as well? Marc Crawford once won a cup and he's (frank)ing awful.

I initially thought that as well because the Canucks are veteran. But if they're planning on transitioning to youth then he would have been good.

This is Gillis' last coach, so I just can't see him taking some no-name from the minors. Eakins isn't a no-name even though he's been in the AHL.

Well this is just my opinion, but I'd much rather hire Gulutzan before Eakins.

Doing well in the NHL means jack in the NHL.

You match the players with the coach, regardless of their history. All coaches start somewhere.
