Statement trade is going to be trading Vanek and not getting on his knees to get him to resign. - sbroads24
I'll bite. It won't take that much effort to sign Vanek, especially if your bringing in a Malkin. It would take a small miracle to shed enough salary to resign a Malkin if we were to indeed trade for him.

IF, and I say IF because nothing is ever 100% true, if he was offered 8 year 64 mil, and he declined they should move on

couldn't have said it better myself...
You know... "lets draft this 17 year old kid who had Drouin and MacKinnon on the team to help out score opponents..
he would look good with our group of Miller, Enroth, Hackett, Makarov, Knapp, Ullmark, and Liewuen."
-said no one ever - JVince11
and I couldnt have said it better than that. With that firepower he should have a sub 2 gaa. Hell no at 16 but if he was there in the second id take just cause I think you should take 1 goalie every year.
I would not grab one in the first rd though - navinrjohnson
yes but you get them in the 3rd or later rounds.. goalies are hard to peg at that age. a goalie could be on a team with great fire power like Fucale and never face the types of shots that you need to evaluate him.. honestly I watched a game of his and nothing jumped out at me to say this guy is good.. he looked like any other goalie in the Canadian jrs just with a bunch of great players in front of him

havent looked it over but id bet a case of beer there are better goalies drafted in the 3rd or later than the 1st and 2nd. Heck look at #1 picks in the last decade

I dunno about every year, especially with the recent trend of college/euro league goalies being signed as free agents. But I see what youre saying. Personally I would never spend a 1st rounder on a goalie.

thats a fair point as well but seems the undrafted goalies are the ones that slip though the scouting cracks come form small teams nobody ever goes to see.

3rd round or later pick a goalie every year.. I can be down with that.. but to waste a 1st or 2nd on a position with such big questions i don't think is a good idea

off the top of my head is barrbumhole the only 1st rounder starting goalie weve had?
seems like the 1sts weve had on our team have all been busts and back up lifers. Exclude Fuhr

I miss Marty. Great team guy but always see him at Chefs - Beezer33
I was kind of hoping that we could sign him as a vet back up for Enroth to help him.. but the youth movement of Enroth and Hackett will hopefully prove to be very good too.
