Yeah, that 20% is super-high for a forward, much less a defenseman. Chalk it up as small sample size plus inordinate amounts of good luck.

The gap between them is definitely starting to close, though. Voynov's starting handle tougher minutes and doing pretty well, but yeah, his time on the ice is still a cakewalk compared to what Doughty has to handle.

Give it another season or two, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them pretty much on par with each other.

I'd still take Doughty, because he's closer to what they are missing in Pronger. He can do it all. I wouldn't say no to Voynov, either, but Doughty's the more well rounded of the two, despite Voynov's outstanding playoff production.

I hope not. You end up over-paying in either salary or assets for a player if the tea doesn't match and then you have to waste 7 days in the summer's busy season waiting and can't do much to address needs.
