Well, as I'm sure you know, we don't have a 2nd round pick and I'm not reaching for a project pick at #15. There are too many far better options.

I wouldn't reach either, but if Snow trades down to late 1st rd, then I wouldn't mind...

I have (wet) dreams of him and Pedan playing together.

My ultimate dream would be to trade up and get the 6'3'' RW Nichushkin to play wing for Johnny

Too bad that will never happen.

We need some size on the blue line. Hoping for a blue line that other teams don't want to play against in the not too distant future.

I really want to see Nino play this year. I hope all the negativity surrounding him fades. I'm more inclined to stay put unless.it's for a big bruising type of dman. If even one of our fwd prospects can make a decent showing and maybe one or two minor signings we might be good. We've been waiting for these kids let's see what they got.

I don't see him trading down from the fifteenth spot. There isn't much wiggle room and I don't think the return will justify it. Maybe and a big maybe I can see him trading it for some immediate help.

Kind of a crapshoot this year where we pick, it's such a deep year and when you get to the middle of the first, guys have these kids ranked everywhere. There's so many options.

Nikita Zadorov (D) is my first choice if he's available. Pronman has him ranked 16th (his rankings are based purely on who he feels is best, not where teams are picking). Big (6'5'' 221lb) mean, nasty defenseman. Plays for London in OHL before someone bites my head off about drafting Russians. Imagine a shutdown pair of him and Pedan driving opposing forwards insane

Max Domi (C) has a sickening amount of skill, but stands a little small at 5'9''

Bo Horvat (C) is a complete player. Can score, plays physical, defensively adept, plays PP/PK, good on the draw. We may have this in Nelson, but never hurts to have a slew of these guys. He's got 2C written all over him.

Ryan Pulock (D) is an offensively gifted defensemen. Absolutely massive shot from the point. When I say massive I mean he's been clocked at over 100mph in skills competitions. Could be a great PP QB. Also, we may have a similar player in Donovan.

Adam Erne (LW) is a big power forward with blazing speed. Good finisher, kills d-men driving to the net with his high-end speed. Might be nice to hedge any concerns we had with Nino.

Kerby Rychel (LW) is similar to Erne, but he's a notably weaker skater. He also has notably more offensive skill. Pronman has him ranked low (44) due to defensive concerns (compared to Erne who's ranked 18)

Here's the list of Pronman's top 250 ranked prospects. Currently he has detailed descriptions of each player through #60. Keep in mind (not you specifically, but everyone) that Corey Pronman's opinion is, obviously, not the end-all-be-all of what these kids are. Some have Rychel ranked inside the top 20, etc... I just personally prefer (most) of his thoughts over some others.

I'd pick Erne...the Islanders have enough defensemen in the system...

How silly of me not to include such information...

Zadorov had a puppy as a child, but tragically it died at the age of 11 in an unfortunate skeet shooting accident. To this day Zadorov has a soft spot for living puppies.

Domi once finger-painted a pretty good picture of an octopus in 3rd grade. Unfortunately his father punched it in half.

Bo Horvat has a world class daffodil garden and routinely competes on the competitive flower growing circuit in the off-season.

Ryan Pulock has *THE BEST* recipe for swedish meatballs.

Adam Erne adorably starred on an episode of Sesame Street as a child.

Kerby Rychel holds an annual bake sale to raise money that is donated to research towards a cure for tortoise AIDS.

Great get by NBC tonight...after Quick straight robbed Patrick Kane in the 3rd period, they showed Kane looking at the replay on the jumbotron and, after seeing the replay, Kane turns to one of his teammates on the bench and mouths, "what the (frank)?"

Awesome stuff.

I think they take Erne for three simple reasons - amazing skating, crashes the net, size.

Whether you like it or not, Capuano will probably coach for at least 2 more seasons. His system revolves around quick transitions and speed.

Often times, there isn't someone crashing the net hard (ex. Lucic) to distract the opposing team and open up some space when our offense is on the rush. If we had the 6'3" Erne crashing the net at a fast speed, that would open up a lot of room for Tavares or whoever Erne is centered by.

Although the kid is quite raw, most are at the #16 pick (see Nelson, Brock at #30). It may take 2-3 years for Erne to make it to the NHL but he will fit into the speed and transition system we have in place.

Erne, Zykov or any other big W with speed and hands will be good for this team.
but also don't discount some very good D in the draft either...

I know nothing about any of these prospects. And I really don't care. I just want them to pick the best players available at their spots, regardless of position. You can't go wrong doing it that way.

The real question is are they going to use some picks to package as part of a deal for a top pair D-man or a first line RW? That's the only question about the draft I'm concerned with.

You can never have enough defensemen in the system. However I do think we've got enough that we can consider simply picking the best available player, regardless of their position at this point. While we've got some nice forwards coming along, it couldn't hurt to get another potential top six forward in the mix.

I'm honestly okay with either position at this point. I think we ultimately just have to take the best player available. I think we're nearing decision time with guys like Petrov as he stays in Russia, Kabanov who just isn't coming along as fast as his talent should allow and our three goalie prospects. By next offseason, our future moves are going to have to be based on the success or failures of those players. For now, let's just keep stocking the cupboards

I believe Hiller is a UFA after this year, so I imagine they would be willing to deal him but probably more of a deadline thing.
