Wonder which players are going to be bought out. Players like Heatley, Havlat and Richards could become free agents. I would mind getting one of Heatley or Havlat for $3.5-4 million on a short term deal. |

I really hope Lokti's one-year deal ends with him as an RFA again. Ideally, I wish we could get him to a two or three year deal, I wouldn't even mind going as high as a 2-2.5 even though he's unproven. |

Hemsky from EDM is available. Do we want him? 1yr left with 5m cap hit on contract. Hasnt scored 20+goals since 08-09 season. Mostly because of injuries. I would be really pissed off if Lou went after this guy. Too much of a cap hit for a washed up bum. |

He's not washed up... he has skill. But he's not worth that amount of money. Tambellini should have traded him years ago. |

it's best to see what the young guys, who actually have a future with the team, can do and to see what they're capable of going forward.
This drove me crazy at the end of the year. Should of been rolling 3 rookies out there but instead Zid, Harrold, Tallinder, Volchenkov where all getting ice time. Made no sense and it really makes me question Deboer. He holds 20 something Swedish kids accountable but not the 30 something vets making the same mistakes game after game.
one more thing any chance Morgan Klimchuk is there when we pick in the 2nd round?

If we only give up - rmdevil313ATrain or Tallinder though, its a win win for us, regardless of how much Malone plays. We get 60 games of a clarkson replacement and our log jam on D will be freed up.
I don't know who i want off the defense more one of those two or Captain Pylon... Really sucks im hating on Bryce but he played so bad last year. |

Another random note. How much (frank)ing bullpoop is it that we have to give up our #1 next year? Hawks and Wings got away with it when they signed Zetterbeg and Hossa who both make less per year then Kovy...Can Lou take them to court and challenge them on this? Its (frank)ing ridiculous we didn't do anything anyone else wasn't doing...yet we have to forfeit a first rounder? Why not Chicago or Detroit? I know its all been said before but it still bothers me. Not like Lou started these contracts. |

I still think that the Oilers are a good fit to deal with New Jersey, Big Mac has gone publicly and said that he will be moving Hemsky. Hemmer would be a good fit either on the first or second line on the right wing.
With all the emphasis on the kids for the last few years i think Hemmer has been left out in the cold. Yakupov and Eberle are going to play on the first 2 lines and you cant put Hemmer on the 3rd line. He is still young and will give Jersey a threat every time he is on the ice. |

He used to be excellent at his role but his injury history is far too glaring to ignore how it's messed with his gamer a bit. A change of scenery would do him well and he could be quite good in NJ, I agree. Only issue is his injury history and trade value. Most the Devils should offer up would be A-Train because he's in a very similar situation here and the Oilers could really use his skills if he bounced back a bit. Devils could throw in a decent prospect if it meant the two teams also swapped 1st round picks in an ideal situation because the Oil could still nab Nurse, Zadorov, Horvat, or Lazar at 9, while NJ could guarantee themselves Lindholm or Shinkaruk. Just my two cents but I'm not going to freak out and call you an idiot like most for suggesting that a player who is relatively close to a point per game for his career still has some value |

Has some value but with his injury history like you said how high can it be? Plus it is a one year deal for a relatively high price. We probably didn't make a huge profit if one at all last year.(No facts just guessing here) Could hurt our interest in a lot of guys. And on top of all this everyone knows EDM is looking to move him. I'm really interested in how much the Oilers want for him. Obviously the biggest factor. |

You'd really rather have A-Train for the next couple years with this crazy defensive log-jam than take a one year test trial on a winger with offensive capabilities? I'd say their injury history is comparably scary so I'd rather not have A-Train turn into a Pronger on the books. I also really like the thought of moving up to 7th to get some security and actually have an outisde shot at Monahan instead of a near impossible one. I wouldn't trade anyone but Tallinder or A-Train for Hemmer though... I'll admit that'd be just foolish on Lou's part. |

I screamed at the TV when the Devils traded down the 21st pick to 24th instead of drafting Eberle who went to the Oil at 22, I screamed again when we didn't take Carlson, and then screamed again the next year when Lou took JJ over John Moore. Wanted Toffoli over Merrill and Frk over Matteau as well. Only one I was happy with was Larsson and although I still have high hopes, it's looking like Dougie would've been a better pick - NJD Fan
Way to early for that...But everything else makes me wanna cry...Only hope is Teddy has a career epiphany alla Marty St.Louis but i think i may have a better shot at the lottery then that happening. |
