You're talking the top 8 spots left in the league. There's not more parity in comparison to pre-cap years with regular season numbers and playoff races and such? All I know is salary cap hockey.
- GirouxForTheShow

It's almost exactly the same, nothing has changed.

Buf, NJ, PHL & Tor went 9 for 16

Det, Dal, Col went 9 for 16

7 teams 18 of 28

The only Cup winner not one of those seven was TB the year before the lockout.

What you're looking at is 20-25 percent of the teams go to far more than 50% of the conference finals before and after the Cap They win 90% of the Finals.

The Cap's changed nothing. Just some of the teams have changed which is typically cyclical like all sports.

You have your haves and your have nots, only the names have changed.

Can't believe Marla left midseason to get married. The peaches would have easily won the series if she was there.

It wouldn't surprise me if they let Cooke walk.

I'm wondering how many of Iginla, Morrow and Murray they decide to bring back. I'd resign Morrow but the rest could find new homes as they see fit.

cooke certainly isnt the problem with them. if anything i think he should be kept over any of the new 3

Yet nobody touches Ray Shero and his "golden" moves.
- bradleyc4

and honestly, shero has been a great gm. granted he inherited a lot, but i have a hard time blaming the problems of this team on its construction. the problems arise after

I was thinking more of a salary problem. Not a huge one but maybe his request is enough to let him walk.

fair enough on that. if he is going to command a hefty raise, then yeah see ya later. but for all of his reputation, he is a very useful player for his role/salary. if it was up to me to make the changes for the pens, dupuis and cooke are the first i look to resign by a mile

That's really the shame of it. His complete lack of discipline in his career. Has overshadowed how good of a role player he is.

Didn't read much of a game plan. Really just outlined what they already have. His Capgeek lineup is interesting though.

Well he is 21, has good hands, works hard for loose pucks, has pretty good sense in the offensive zone. Pair him with an offensively talented vet like Jagr on the right, and a smart speedy 2 way winger like Read on the left and watch him put up 25-30 goals and 60+ points next season.

And on a related topic, I will also be willing to bet that by the time he is 23, Couturier will be 205-210lbs, and putting up 25+ goals and 60+ points while shutting down the other teams top center night after night.

This is why I have no interest in moving either of these kids unless a Weber or Pietrangelo is coming back and I can't see Nashville or St. Louis moving either of them.

- BiggE

I hope your right about both Couturier & Schenn. They are still young but hopefully they can turn it up next season.

He buys out Bryz and Briere, signs Ray Emery and Ryan Clowe, and the D stays the same.

Hmm, not sure about Emery, Clowe I have some doubts on, and I guess the D if healthy could be OK, but what a huge question mark on health/age of key guys.

I dunno if that is all Homer has plans for, we'll see.

he might not have a lot of answers, but he certainly nailed most of the problems.

A lot rides on the shoulders of Gus. I think he can handle it. At the end of the season he was getting plenty of responsibilities when Kimmo was sat down against playoff teams and didn't seem out of place. I would say his injuries in the past were more of bad luck then taking a physical pounding because of being a smaller d-man.

a lot of discussion in the local sports media about a teams "Mt Rushmore"...prob because of the PFT campaign that's going on. regarding the flyers, mine would be clarke, bernie, howe and lindros. considering that coaches, GMs and owners could also be candidates, there is certainly room for debate.

I'm intrigued by Samuel Morin. I'm a draft novice, but I think he is worth the risk of a first round draft choice by a team. He may not have the offensive upside, but Chara didn't show offensive upside in junior also (not writing he will be Chara).

I'm curious to find out if Button will be proved right on who selects him in the draft.

If the Flyers trade down and grab him late in the first round or early in the second, I'd be happy. If they take him at 11, I will be violently angry, and probably throw stuff.

Would you trade Coburn and a 2nd for Carolina's 5th?

In about 3 seconds.

I wouldn't trade Coburn unless there was a significant overpayment and that would be a massive overpayment.

So, after he went to Colorado, you'd get up and walk out of the draft?

Everybody would. Except Carolina.
