OK Buttmunch, before you start being a smart@ss, read the start of the sentence that you bolded ...... allow me..... I said, "I am not camparing Edler to Reghr" I know that Edler is better than Reghr ....
if your such a hot shot trade value expert .... take off the homer glasses and you tell me what Edler is worth...... - GadesnSens

You are kidding with the bolded part, right?
You do know who the owner is and that he has spent a ton since he took over, I hope. - kingcong39
They're still in the bottom half of salaries, even after overspending on so many players ($40M for Ehrhoff???) and the team is not highly profitable. So yes. |

Edler is better than Jack Johnson and Erik Johnson.
Jack Johnson was traded for Jeff Carter.
Erik Johnson was traded for Chris Steward and Kevin Shattenkirk.
Edler is worth A LOT. |

isles would probably be looking for defense/goalie...personally i want nothing to do with luongo; weve been down that road..actually were still on that road. what would it take to get schneider? - LetsGoIsles
A case of Martha Clara Estate Reserve Riesling, four all day passes to Adventure land, a round (for four) of golf at Bethpage Black including carts and dinner for four at Tellers Restaurant, including wine (and tip).
Plus, maybe a player or two or a draft pick, but those would just be an add on. |

When they get close to the ceiling they can be considered big spenders. |

Wow, what's with the name calling? And "Buttmunch"...? Really...?
Other than a mild sarcastic tone, my post was not disrespectful. Maybe you should take a Valium break.
You say you're not comparing them, but then you compare their value—how does that work?
Edler would return a top6 forward.
He's got some extremely desirable traits that GMs have paid a premium for in the past; and Edler's better than the examples that myself and another poster gave. |

Honestly even Ballard I could see going for futures to a team short on veteran Dmen. He is not a bad player, was just never given a chance. Since this goalie mess started I always thought Lu to the Flyers once bryz was bought out and if not the NYI. But as you point out many teams need goal tending. NJ might be a good fit too as Marty cant have much left in the tank to be the number 1 guy at 41. - allen_gamble
I think Ballard's a good defenseman who was ruined by AV. Same way Ron Wilson ruined half the Leafs players. But that being said, it's gonna be really hard to trade Ballard at this point without taking something in return, or throwing in a pick / prospect. Too many sub par years under AV. |

I think the franchise needs to give Gaunce every opportunity to win the job there. There's a need to start injecting some ELC into the lineup, his game is perfectly suited for the job, he has NHL size and he's mature enough to learn on the fly. Will his offensive growth suffer, I don't think so, confidence is the single most important attribute he needs. With the support of the coaching staff and management he should do well IMO. |

I don't think AV could have ruined him that much, if he wasn't already ruined in the first place. Let's not forget that Vokoun STILL has nightmares about the night Ballard caused an own goal and then took his head off with his stick because of it.

I don't think that Hemsky is a good fit on Vancouver, but trading Hemmer in return for a bad contract dman is something the Oilers are definitely after.
I can say that when Ballard gets bought out, Edmonton will likely give him a strong look. |

Id give up say ballard and a pick if we had too for say a swap of 7th rounders. We just need to clear space at any cost plus if we could then acquire 2 toxic contracts for picks\propects for our buyouts im allllll over it. Who knows how much some of the small market teams would be willing to give up to shed dollars. |

I was thinking a round of golf at Bethpage would be the go/no go in the deal. Not everyone gets to play at a US Open course in their lifetime. |

We could see him on the wing this season and kinda slowly work him over to the center position. |

I assure you it will, unless he's getting top6 minutes, which he's not even close to ready for—he's not even close to ready for 3rd line duty in the NHL.
He won't get confidence playing under 8 minutes a night with Sestito.
He will get confidence as the captain of an OHL team, playing crucial minutes, dominating the competition at both ends of the ice, and scoring at a high pace. |

I never related spending to winning. You're just being argumentative.
But while you're at it, yes, teams who win the Stanley Cup do spend to the cap. |

I like the deal 100% If the nucks didnt have cap issues. The problem is they need to dump him for nothing. |

I feel like you're selling yourselves short a bit, with all the teams looking to reach the cap floor.
I think you could quite easily trade Booth Ballard + 4th for a 4th and a 5th say |
