Sorry, Roy was brutal in Vancouver - and it was his own doing. I agree AV needed to go but he did not deserve all the blame. A player who is apparently seeking 6 mil a season should be able to perform in the role he was given. He was terrible.
I'd be happy with a buyout on Booth. Not worth the money. Downward trending for a while now and he seems more interested in hunting than playing hockey. - Canuckleafer
Sorry, but that's bullsh!t. You can't expect a guy with a playmaking top 6 skillset to perform & produce in an unstable role with incompatible line mates just because he's capable of doing so if used properly. |

How is John Stevens getting all this favorable pub?

You guys are overvaluing your own players like Oiler fans do.
Let me give you some facts. I'll take one Regehr over two Edlers. Regehr is a physical, bruising, tough, sound, playoff d-man. Edler makes mistakes, is a wuss, and is not built of the playoffs.
Jack Johnson is a whole different story. For whatever reason, the guy was always hyped up to be something that he'll never be. He was probably the most overrated player for a few seasons leading up the trade. - RedwingsAreKHL

It's quite obvious the Oil are loaded at every position. They simply miss the playoffs each year because they can't wait to get the (frank) out of Edmonton. - golfingsince

You think St Louis might be a good trading partner with Andy McDonald retiring? |

Maybe. Do you think we will see an offer sheet on Shattenkirk or Peitrangelo. |

Probably, just not with us. There is no way they give us any of the players I would want. |

Gillis has been after Backes for years. Hasn't work yet. They aren't giving up what we need. |

Our cap situation isn't conducive to stealing talent. And our prospect pool is too shallow to pay for it in picks. We're stuck trying to make a trade. Plenty of dummies out there if you can get to them first.

I agree and I'm not impressed with the aged free agent pool this year. Going to be a strange summer. I don't know who I would want. Yikes. |

Gillis has made a splash pretty much every year on July 1. The key this year IMO is to wait a week or two after the teams that have cap space have used most of it and see who is left that has some value to our team that can be had for a year or 2 at a bargain. |

Agreed. There are bound to be some good steals, especially with the buyouts that are bound to happen. A lot of guys who look like crap at their current pay scale will look great at half the price.
I think the college scouts have also been pretty helpful, so there is that too. |

I only have 6 or 7 players on my team for next season. If that. |

We'll have no money for any UFA's, Gillis will just be fortunate to get under the cap and ice a full roster. Unless he does what I want, which is trade a few core players! |

In all honesty I'd trade Kesler, Edler, Schneider & Bieksa to change the culture of this team...IF...I could get positional value for each of them.
Luongo as well, but he won't get much of a return. |

Meh, he had a crappy team in Dallas but didn't overachieve at all either. He was a "hot" AHL coach like Eakins though. |

It's way too hard to pull that many trades off over a short period of time, it's just never going to happen. Trading both goalies would be stupid, I'd keep Schneider for sure and rather move Luongo for nothing. Not to mention that Bieksa and Kesler have NTC's, which again makes it difficult to get full trade value since Gillis would lose leverage. |
