I think there was a lot of games played because Iggy wanted Pitt & that's it But now, I'm happy, the biggest part of that return was losing the 7.0 mill off of our cap & the 28th pick. The prospects are polyfilla. Colin, do you really think Flames have what it takes to move up? I don't. Would you part with Gio or Wideman plus the Pitt pick to try & get Carolinas pick. That seems like the only doable way to get another top 10 pick.

I would do Wideman plus the pitt pick for a top 5 pick in a heartbeat. But I am sure no team would even consider that. It would take at least the St Louis pick as well.

Hey Kev, how are things? I would move our 6, our 22 & one of Gio, Wideman or GlenX to get Floridas pick. Only if Jones goes first. Calgary needs MacKinnon. If that can't happen then we should keep all 3 picks and just make smart picks, starting with Monahan.

I flip flop on all this all the time. Arguments can be made for may scenarios. I still would love to see what it might take to get TBL or FLA pick but I think getting the NSH pick should gaurantee Barkov. Cammi, I still believe should bring a good return and Tangs is a good support top 6 player. Especially for a team that needs a play maker. Depending on return, I would add Wideman, why not. CGY's biggest asset is still there cap space and the fact that they likely don't need to buy out any of their own players.

How about Wideman (at 4mil), Tanguay and the 30th for the 5th and McBain and maybe a 3rd, lesser asset. And Cammi (at 4-4.5mil), Butler and the 22nd (or even the 6th if we have to) for the 4th +. This could get us Barkov and Monahan or Lindholm or even a trade down scenario for more assets.

Maybe, after drafting Barkov at 4, we trade down with PHI, who I think would love Nurse, for the 11th and Couturier and perhaps a useful salary dump player or 2nd.

Hey Whip! Pretty fair. Hope all is good. Yeah I think the price for Mckinnon is whacko. I would give up Gio or Wideman & the 2 later picks to get a top 5 as well. We need 2 important pieces to kick start this SOB. Imagine getting Monohan & Lindholm in the 5 & 6spot or Monohan & Nichushkin. Sprinkle in a bit Sven & we are on our rebuild way. Now if tight ass Edwards to cough up some bucks & agrees to eat that Depietro contract for Nino & the 15th pick, well the Crown is on me my friend

Don't see us carrying cap like you are hoping, even though it makes sense to me. If they were open to that, we would have gotten a way better return on JBO & maybe could have extorted Rattie & the 1st for a way cheaper JBO.. Hence the value of Tanguay is minimal & Cammi's 6.0 mill cap hit is like eating hotwings when you have acid reflux. Cammi's best value will be at the TDL & if he can score 20-25 goals by then, we may even get a 2014 1st rounder for him.

NHL.com just did their mock drafts. I don't think any of their writers actually have a clue about the Flames organizational needs... Morreale even has us taking Nurse with the 6th overall, then Fucale with the 22nd. It's embarrassingly bad.
