Miller/grigo/8th/16th for Geno???
i bet they would like to get their hands on McNabb also... - battelmt
I would think that would at least get you in the room to talk. Hodgson moves to Center the sencond line. Ennis #3 Center. I would love to see what Vanek would do with Malkin

i was thinking keep the vanek/hodge chemistry together- but as a second line who now doesnt face the other team's top shutdown line, ennis back to wing, malkin reviving stafford, larson/girgs centering the 3rd line from hell with guys like ott and foligno on the wings....
i know its so improbable but fun to consider and im super sick of talking about the draft and how awesome sekera is. |

Am I crazy for not wanting another defensive irresponsible player on the roster? |

No but if we lose vanek who will score?
I dont see any top FA signing with a rebuilding project unless we throw funny money at them.
Time to start fresh all around i guess.
Also I am happy as much as the next person about the harbor center being built to bring in business to downtown and bring local college teams can play there but I rather hear about the team and whats happening on that front right now. Too many times i feel like they use that building as a way to get away from the bad things they keep doing like keeping darcy and not in playoffs.. maybe thats the little bitter part in me but oh well |

I think Sekera had far better numbers, is on a much better contract, and didnt finish the year on IR for a separated shoulder, so to me fit can be argued either way. And the 8 pick is a better slot than 11 - perhaps not MUCH better, but still.
With all respect, of course. - nfph

There a rumors that Edmonton are looking to trade Yakupov because they know they will not be able to afford Eberle, Hall, RNH and Yak in 2 years. It is obvious that they need defensive help. What would everyone think about a trade of Miller, Sekera and our 8th pick for Yakupov. Or maybe we could do Miller, Stafford, Sekera and our 8th for Yak and Edmonton's 2nd round pick. We could agree to pay half of Miller's salary. This would leave Edm with the 7th and 8th picks in which they could get a top D prospect like Nurse and Zadorov and we would get last year's #1 pick. It may seem like an overpayment, but what is an overpayment for a #1 pick? - adambuffalo

That is exactly what Ted Black does during interviews and is asked about the direction of the team.
Side note: Can people finally start saying that Pittsburgh is an over rated organization? |

prolly the consensus around WNY right now.
it should remind everyone of TP's dedication though.
i hate when ppl compare him to golisano. he may stink at his job right now, but you cant question his commitment or dedication to hockey in buffalo and WNY. it just may take a little longer than we all thought for him to be our "savior"... |

point a- doesnt seem to be a problem for Bos,LA, Min,Stl, Det teams who dont have top end scoring talent but seem to win and make the playoffs.
point b- id rather the city of buffalo gro and thrive than have our hockey team win imo |

there is no truth to that. - SpoiledByOil
Oilers GM Craig MacTavish has been working the phones and looking for immediate help. Could be willing to move some of their young assets. Talk that they might trade Nail Yakupov to bring back a package.
Will Nail Yakopov be traded this summer? The Oilers have a new GM and they will be looking for a top 2 defenceman. They are using Nail Yakopov as trade bait.
Twitter was abuzz in the winter with a blockbuster NHL rumor, featuring two teams in Canada that need to take steps forward this season to avoid bloodshed. The Edmonton Oilers are in desperate need of a defender, while the Canadiens are in huge need of a franchise forward.
Obviously the Canadiens are having a GREAT year but they are still searching for the franchise forward. The Oilers wanted P.K. Subban for Yakopov….. that trade will not happen now as Subban has turned into a Norris Trophy Candidate.
The Oilers want to trade with a team in the East as they do not want Yakopov in the Western Conference.
The Oilers never wanted to draft Yakopov, they wanted Ryan Murray but owner Daryl Katz over-ruled Oilers management and wanted Yakopov. There is a good chance the Oilers talk with Columbus about a Yakopov for Murray trade.
Oilers and Habs are discussing a possible move that could change the face of both franchises: a Subban for Yakupov trade. Per my source, Bergevin was approached by the Oilers, who are “aggressively inquiring” about Subban. The deal, if one will be reached, would be quite complex, as many picks and other (less significant) players are being discusses as well.
