Who is it you're moving up for if you're the Oilers?
It it just to get ahead of Calgary so they don't take the guy u want?
Bc if u guys & Carolina want the same guy, then I doubt they're trading back unless u give them something more significant
There prob is a deal to be made there though - jdfitz77
Well if Barkov is there you grab him IMO. If not him then Nichushkin, but you can't go wrong with Monahan either IMO. Either way Edmonton should at least try and move up to pick their highest ranked player.
There is still the chance that a lindholm or nurse gets in the top 6 and Edmonton can pick who they want anyway, but I dunno, I'm sure Edmonton will get a solid player regardless if its who I want or not |

Lindholm is too small in my opinion. We have enough small centers. I like Monahan at 6'2". Barkov is the guy in the draft I'd most like to have. He's already got a man's body and has played against men in Finland. The only small center I'd want is MacKinnon and I don't see us getting up to #2 to take him. - Pierceme69
Barkov is the top player in the draft IMO
So if we can trade up for him in some way, then I would as long as its a reasonable cost
Lindholm is listed at 6'0, 192...
I don't think that's particularly "small"
And I think we might be getting a little carried away w the "size" factor
We have quite a few guys that are bigger coming up
Not all are very physical,
But in general, I don't see us lacking in that area in a couple years
I do think we needed to address that issue,
And I'm satisfied we've done so
Now I'm just looking for the best player
And from what I've seen and read,
Lindholm can flat out play
He's not flashy, which is why he doesn't get a lot of hype
But he's solid in all areas & does the little things that help win games
I'd love if he fell to us at 8
I also like Ristolainen a lot |

I really want Barkov or Nichuskin, so if it were me, I'd gladly offer up that package that was mentioned earlier. |

From what I understand his deal is that he plays in the NHL or he has to go back to the KHL. No AHL. It's similar to Grigs except I don't think there is the 10 game try out period. - Pierceme69
Ya, he's never played in NA,
So if his KHL team released him from his contract...
He would be eligible to play in the AHL or NHL as much as he wants, and wouldn't have to worry about any limitations as far as # of games played goes |

Nashville would be outta their mind to let Barkov drop past them...
And if that somehow does happen,
I gotta believe Carolina wouldn't trade that pick away
I'm not sold on Nichuskin
He's very risky for me
And with what you'd have to pay to move up,
You're prob better off staying at 7
Between Monahan, Nurse & Lindholm, two of those guys will be there for u to choose from... So I think you'll be in pretty good shape still |

Depending on who you value in media circles I have seen Ristolainen rated in the top-10 and outside the top-20. Could he be there at 16? |

Nichkuskin to me is everything Drew Stafford could have been if he had any heart. I have seen so many video clips of him bulling his way to the net and scoring that I think he would be an outstanding pick. If there was any chance he fell a few spots like Grigs did last season I would love to get him at #8. |

It certainly is possible
There's quite a few guys that are talked about as possibly "jumping up"
If we ended up w Lindholm at 8, and Ristolainen at 16, I'd be ecstatic!
And I'm also all for trading Miller and Vanek, bc I think we come away w two more 1sts...
And then we could possibly add a combo of
Erne, Rychel, Manta, etc...
That would just be great IMO |

He still has some risk though
If he were to fall to 8, he'd be hard to pass up
But I think it'll cost too much to trade up for him...
No thanks |

I agree that they'd have to be bat-sh1t crazy to pass on Barkov, but anything can happen. Maybe Mike Milbury gets hired by Nashville, and trades their 4th overall pick for Theo Peckham.
I've been following Nichushkin for a while now, and I really like what I see. I agree that there's a risk (but there's a risk with most draftees)... I just think he'd be perfect for the Oilers... A really big Russian winger to play on the second line with Yakupov.
Hall ~ RNH ~ Eberle
Nichushkin ~ Gagner ~ Yakupov

None of you watch international hockey. None of you have any idea how good these top prospects actually are. All you all do is watch youtube videos. Spare everyone with the 'Barkov' is better, Drouin has more upside blah blah blah.
You have no clue. |

If Pens lose series in 4 or 5 games the offseason storylines may be interesting. Some think Malkin becomes a trade target. Tough call. |

Bump.
Hell yes.
I said a week ago that unless anyone on here is a scout, or it's part of their job to watch jr, college or European hockey 60 hrs a week, then they really don't know sh!t.
However, I did also say that it's really fun to speculate what might happen, who might be there at 8 and 16, or what trades might happen.
So, flame on, dreamers, but stop acting like you've studied film (and youtube isn't "film") on these guys. |

yes you would, while an overpayment for a jump from 8 to 5 trading a bunch of 2nd/3rd liners for a franchise player is completely worth it, you can always replace a guy like Ennis is FA. |
