Would anyone give up both the #8 and #16 to move up to #5 to get one of Drouin, Barkov, or Nichuskin? |

Thtd still be too much. Only moving up 2 spots. If its not.1, 2,or.3 forget it. Sell.the old weight and draft 4 guys in first round
8th monahan
16th
21st maybe a miller trade, plus a couple prospectsprospects
27, other dead weight.not vanek ........ |

I think the oilers could put together a solid package for the 5th pick. We have a surprising amount of promising D prospects which could be used in Carolina as well as a still very strong 7th pick (Darnell nurse likely still available) two second round picks. If they want a player like Hemsky or a smid or nick Schultz (both guys would require a solid replacement but they are useful on other teams especially a lacking blue line in Carolina)
I'm not saying all of this get it done, but I'm sure a combination of these picks and players can get the job done for Edmonton to move up and have a chance at Barkov or Nichushkin, as well as Monahan if the desire is there as well |

Naw, thats a little much. 2 top 20 players wouldn't be worth that |

All the players after 5 are not franchise type guys. Drouin, Barkov, and Nichuskin are very likely to be. |

ennis, McCabe, Larsson 8th, 52th and 2014 Second Round pick(LA) For 5th. - sabrewolf301
Whoa!
That is WAY too much...
I'd give the 8th, plus ONE of those other assets u mentioned
And in all honesty,
If it goes Jones, MacKinnon, Drouin & Barkov in the top4...
The guy I'd take 5th would be Lindholm, who very well may be there at #8 |

if it aint for mackinnon or jones that's too much.
imo, a 2nd by itself should be enough to move up 2 spots. that's generally the going rate anyway.
but if you were set on giving up a body, it'd have to be someone lesser. pitlick, Hamilton etc |

Only if it was Barkov
Otherwise, we'd likely get something like Lindholm or Monahan at 8,
And there'd be a variety of solid options at 16 as well |

we cant afford to give up anyone in our top 6. our defence is already atrocious.
imo, we really cant afford to give up many roster players whatsoever without getting one in return. hemsky might be the only player who's become redundant |

Lindholm is too small in my opinion. We have enough small centers. I like Monahan at 6'2". Barkov is the guy in the draft I'd most like to have. He's already got a man's body and has played against men in Finland. The only small center I'd want is MacKinnon and I don't see us getting up to #2 to take him. |

I do
Nichuskin is a "boom or bust" guy IMO
If he didn't have an "out" in his KHL contract, then he'd likely have dropped to at least 16, and at tht point I'd def take a shot on him...
But trading up to 5 for him...
Just wouldn't do it
If he drops to us at 8th I prob would
And I really like Lindholm
He's putting up better #s than Backstrom did at the same age,
And is very solid all-around
He doesn't have the "Malkin-like" ceiling of Nichuskin, but he'll be very "Bergeron-esque" IMO, and I don't think he has the "bust" potential,
And the KHL could still be a factor
I've only heard his agent say he could get out of that deal,
I've heard nothing from that team
At the very least, they'll prob want a hefty buyout to release him |

From what I understand his deal is that he plays in the NHL or he has to go back to the KHL. No AHL. It's similar to Grigs except I don't think there is the 10 game try out period. |

Who is it you're moving up for if you're the Oilers?
It it just to get ahead of Calgary so they don't take the guy u want?
Bc if u guys & Carolina want the same guy, then I doubt they're trading back unless u give them something more significant
There prob is a deal to be made there though |

Yeah I agree with you, I said only if the oilers already acquired a sure fire replacement you can add a smid or nick Schultz
I think that 7th anaheims second and a prospect like but not necessarily Musil should be enough to get the job done |
