Jagr hooked Malkin...
- HopintheCordoba

I mean, yes it was a hook, but Lucic was hooked by Orpik about 5 minutes earlier. I think the refs did the right thing to put the whistles away. Neither hook was during a scoring chance either. Sucked it ended that way but I think the refs did the right thing

a hook? yeah.

should it have been called in an OT playoff game? not in my book.

just because a borderline hook wasn't called doesn't mean a goal happens. It was a great pass, and a great tip in.

- FlyerGuy

Considering what they called in this game, it should have been called. Zebras wanted to go home.

The great pass happened because Malkin got raped by a hook.

It's a penalty i n the first minute of the first regular season game it should be a penalty in double overtime in the playoffs.

What's the point of rules if in the games most crucial moments you aren't going to enforce them?

tough non-call .. but it didn't directly lead to the goal.

It was Engelland's lack of puck skills that set the table for the final sequence

If all of these games were close I'd say the pens have a chance, but the pens have to play 4 straight consistent against a hot goalie

They played better. That's about all I asked. Bergeron and Marchand can play on my team any day.

they let way worse things go during the OT...the no call against lucic by orpik was a way more blatant penalty...they let tons go for both sides in the OT...just how it goes...orpik got burned on the play and it was a perfect pass and tip in.

either way that was one hell of a game

Regardless this has been one of the worst officiated series I've ever seen. Its making the whole thing a joke.

Edit, want to clarify i mean for both sides. Worst officiated in general not for Boston or for pitt

just speechless boys.

everything we asked of the penguins, they did tonight 5 on 5.

it's the powerplay. one of our greatest assets coming into the series, and it has killed us one game after another. you were handed gift after gift and we couldn't do anything about it.

there are some teams that are just destined to win. Boston obviously with the BM bombing, losing out on guys like Iginla, getting Jagr, and then the luck in the playoffs. battling back from the Leafs and now this.

theyre a hell of a team. losing to them isn't something to be ashamed of. the way we have lost, maybe, but to the bruins, no way.

series isn't over. I remember a time in 2010 in a similar situation where our crosstown rivals were saying the same thing and preparing for the offseason. but that flyers team never quit playing and won in 7. penguins can do that too. it will take luck, good bounces, and most of all, smart play and good goaltending.

if we lose, we lose. there are bigger tragedies in the world than watching your favorite hockey team lose.

hopefully this is the start of something big. changes will have to be made and Shero will have a lot of decisions to make.

penguins left it all out on the ice tonight, there is no shame in that.

well, sure ... I suppose. But a penalty in the first minute of a regular season game has little immediate consequences.

I just think that the refs have to REALLY make sure that a penalty is a penalty in OT playoff hockey.

Look my life goes on if the Pens win or lose... I care but whatever. This is what's wrong with hockey they have rules that the officials choose to ignore them and you guys with yea it's a penalty but it's OT!!! That makes no sense to me. Why hockey will always be the 4th in the major sports.

Terrible officiating ends this game.

Incredible game, and an unbelievable effort by the tendies. Rask has unlocked a whole new gear. Guy's been a machine.

The pens just can't catch a break Boston's lone regulation goal was off bad defense but still fluky going off a skate an the pens had 3 or 4 posts. Maybe it's just not meant to happen.

Consequences should be irrelevant. It's absolute bullpoop that playoff games always turn into a free for all at some point. Why call penalties ever? Seems like the more serious consequences should encourage a strict adherence to the rules.

If Bylsma can make these two decisions in the next game he will earn some points with me...

Kennedy and Despres in
Morrow and Engelland out

yep it just comes with the sport. penguins had their chances and they didn't fall. bruins had chances and it just happened to be that play that ended it.

no fault for the coverage there. oprik had him covered well enough that only a perfect pass could have ended it and it did.

series aint over. but will be hard to come back given how boston is rolling and the bounces they are getting.

We just need Rask to wake up from his dream. He is a super goalie, but not this good.
