To be fair there has never been a competition before that measures up the athleticism of pro athletes across all sports. Looking at who was the best in their sport is by no means a bad place to start. - Tsyolin
Agreed. but back to the beginning, the only place the NHL would have an upper hand on the NBA would be conditioning and like hand eye coordination probably.
The decathalon winner is always deemed the best athlete in the olympics, so who would get the upper hand in each event?
100 meters - tossup, some NHL players probably run pretty fast.
400 meters - i'll give this to the NHL, probably better conditioning
shot put - nba
high jump - nba
110 meter hurdles - nba
discuss throw - toss up, this seems like more of a skill so could be anyone
pole vault - nba
javelin - nba
1500 meters - ill give this to the nhl again |

What is your reasoning behind this statement? Because they run around more?
They are stronger? Because they jump high? - RynoBull

If we take out sport specific skills Average NFL player is more athlethic than an average NHL and NBA player.
Even at the top end talent I would pit AP or Clavin Johnson against Lebron in any athletic event. IMHO. |

but its what peters said, which is why i called him embarrassingly stupid.
he says the average nhl player is a better athlete than the elite nba players - robz228
hysterical
off the top of my head
lebron= people still say he could play te in the league right now
A.I. had several scholarships to play football (started at newport news before vick)
Gonzo played te and basketball for cal
and so on and so on
the only sport hockey skills seems to translate too is golf. PLayed with a few former players and they never seem to ever take a divot. But in regards to golf a lot of athlethes are good ar romo look at romo on the road to wualify for the open |

i can agree with that. i think AP vs Lebron would be a good matchup.
but seriouly, whos the most athletic person in the nhl? would you even take him against the top 50 nba players or nfl players? |

the only thing that would hurt nfl players imo would be dribbling and stick handeling everything else id tip the hat to them. |

I'd be okay with it if he came in as a 1a/1b kind of goalie with Enroth. I don't want them starting Fleury 65 games a year that would be my only issue with the deal. If he came in and split time with Enroth I'd be cool with it. After a year you can decide who your #1 is going forward. |

wouldnt even want him. pittsburgh is a bad trading partner. they are going to be in cap hell, traded all their picks away for iginla and morrow.
maybe like beau bennet or w/e. or maybe since they are in such cap trouble, miller for fluery and the rights to letang |

So how bout this, if letang demands 6 million a season and pittsburgh decides they cant keep him.
Fluery and the rights to letang for ryan miller and a 3rd, as well as next years 2nd round pick if he signs
then you could try to trade fluery or amnesty him because he really doesnt fit with the sabres plan |

yeah nevermind anyways letang still has another year, thought he was going into FA this offseason
basically would have been miller, 3rd, 2nd, for letang and whatever you can get for fluery
seems reasonable to me? |

Seriously though, I can't think of a better athlete on the planet then Lebron James. - sbroads24
I really dislike Lebron James but he has freakish athletic ability. He caught an ally oop in game 7 the other night where he had to basically limbo himself in mid flight to avoid rapping his head on the rim. I have read more than one article where NFL scouts have said he could start in the NFL at tight end and possibly could even be a good quarterback. |

Rather try to get a young winger from them for miller.... Neal would be the pipedream |
