I think Letang is legit. I have no problems with his game. He can be too aggressive and make mistakes in his own end but all around he's solid.

I agree.

say tallon called holmgren shopping campbell....would anyone want him? what's the most you'd pay?

How much of the cap hit is Tallon willing to eat?

The PowerPlay is killing momentum for the Bruins...it's just f'n horrible.

They keep trying to carry it in. Need to dump it in, and use their physical advantage.

Only if he's offering the Flyers 2nd-overall to eat the COB on Campbell.

Bruins are off. And the Pens are killing it on faceoffs.

I wonder how the Flyers would match up against the Bruins in this series.
- flyer_nutter

THe Bruins play exactly the way I wish the Flyers did. Solid Goaltending. Solid defensively. Very Physical. The rest comes together on it's own. One thing that remains the same that I do love about the Flyers game. The Forecheck.

well... i'd imagine it would be on a sliding scale with the cost to acquire

you can factor that in.....if florida eats x amount we'll give up y

And the Pens are finding some game. But they need more from Crosby. He needs to be much better.

No doubt. I'm really impressed with how Vokoun has bounced back...he's been real solid.

would you do that? honestly i don't think that's insane for florida (if they want out from campbell's salary)

you'd think they could eat a bunch of salary though and get an actual return (and still have that cap "help" to reach the floor, right?)

but meszaros for campbell straight up is interesting..... i'd still say no but that's about where it seems like it would make any sense at all for the flyers

If they ate enough of his deal to make him a $5mm cap hit, I'd do that in a heartbeat

definitely makes it more interesting.....i'm still not certain. he's getting up there. how different is that from the mark streit rumors being thrown around? not an over 35 contract

i won't be mad if they buy him out, but i'd prefer they do it next offseason. i'm really only concerned about his age + the clawback (or whatever it's called) provisions

Yep, Campbell's deal isn't an over 35 deal. There's also no cap recapture penalties on Campbell for the Flyers, even if he retired after one season.

I'd take Letang on the Flyers in a heartbeat. He's in the same spot most defenseman are in, when they aren't getting the support. They look bad in that situation. Put Letang on the Bruins right now, how do you think he'd look?
- MJL

I hate Letang so much but I would take him in an instant as well.

good point, i keep forgetting this

you're only on the hook for the cap savings you actually receive? they nixed the "mike richards/jeff carter decide to go ricky williams and screw the flyers forever because they signed the deal" version of the rule, right?

Yep. The only players that can cause the Flyers any cap recapture penalties right now are Briere and Bryz
