I "invented" it myself, but google shows htat many, many other people have the same mind as me

Most of the pictures look pretty much the same as what I make.

gave up summer hockey this year
been playing back in Toronto since we moved out here year and a half ago - drive's a bit much, especially cause I used to play twice a week in summer.

looking at playing in St Catharines this winter. Half the price of TO leagues!

yah eh, i play out of burlington...once a night in the summer and 2-3 in winter depending...

thats a crazy drive. lol i think the burlington one is as far as id go!

I should put bacon bits in my next batch of burgers.

Bacon helps you lose weight, right?

PS- I wanna build a grass patch to put on the patio for the dog... so he's not pissing/poopting on the wood...

space I'm thinking is about 8 feet wide, 4 feet deep.

I'm thinking of making a box out of 4 2*6s, with a slanted(for drainage) plywood base, lining the whole thing with a tarp, putting down an inch of coarse gravel, an inch of fine gravel, and the rest with dirt, and then the grass on top.

What big errors do you see in my plan, and what advice can you give?

had been with that team for 10 years. And I got a lot of resistance for leaving too, but a grand on gas alone to play hockey for the summer is a tough sell with the GF

and she knows how big a cut it is to give it up for the summer, so now I've got some credit saved up

sooooo..... you have a boat?

Funny thing is, the recipe is soooo simple. It's slightly more complicated than making ice cubes.

I may end up doing this for my youngest daughter. She hasn't turned five yet, and so far her bacon accomplishments include:

- making a bracelet out of a strip of bacon at a restaurant
- selecting a pile of bacon bits to be her dessert at a buffet

I'm just so damn (sniff) proud...(sniff)...something caught in my eye....

- Atomic Wedgie

non-bacon(though I'm sure there's a way of incorporating it) thing to do with the kids... chop up hot dogs, poke like 8 pieces of dry spaghetti through each piece, boil, add whatever sauce(AND BACON!), serve.

Awesomeness.

Haven't seen very many, the real problem is the rabbits, with a field behind us, we have quite a few, our neighbour has fenced in his garden with netting, lol. His garden is huge though.

there is one error I already know, and I hope someone can help me out with this... is there any type of grass resistant to dog piss? Dog is a boy, so it's not as bad, but other than constantly pouring that patch fixer on it, is there any other course of action?

water the poop out of it.

Scotts makes a "High Traffic Area" seed that is supposed to be more resistant.

we thought about doing this when we lived in a condo - decided against it. you get terrible piss smell wafting in

a better bet might be a cedar mulch bed - never mind the grass.

Can't help you there except lots of grass seed and water. For the first time, our new neighbour on the left side has a dog, the grass was always beautiful in that yard with the old neighbours now it is a mess, we also redid our patio to be on the right side of the yard, the only satisfaction we got was the dog was sprayed by a skunk and is not out at night anymore.

Is the dog a girl?
Their piss is the worst for lawns.

When we had Kate, our grass was (frank)ed, with Chinook, it's actually growing.

Wouldn't the mulch stink up faster with the piss?

nice.. i get them through fieldgate organics down at the market.. they arent frozen and they make them to order.

we get 3 or 4 friends in on it and get a huge order all at once.. that way they are super cheap.. like 1.25$ a burger if you order 50 or more

Wow that is cheap, we tried it with angus ground and lean ground pork, great but expensive, made a whole bunch, froze what we didn't cook.

possibly, but I figure Cedar is aromatic on it's own, and you can water it to rinse it off. No worry of the mulch dying.

but I'm just brainstorming - never put either into practise.

if you do got dirt/grass - you want to go half sand/half soil so it drains even better - urine won't stay on the roots when you water it.

also - if you don't give the grass a couple full seasons (so a year) to establish before the dog starts pissing on it, you'll have problems keeping it alive.

mature roots are fare more resilient. New roots from new seed are pretty easy to kill off

establish a hell of a lot faster, ya. couple weeks of watering to know it's set and you'd be good.

It actually isn't.

It's just that female dogs (that's not an auto-correct!) pee in the same area, whereas male dogs like to pee all over the neighbourhood.

So that one little favourite area of your female dog gets a lot more pee.
