Gardiner for Strome Neideriter and Dipietro - jribout
Why?
Anyway, Clarkson is a one year wonder who will break down sooner than most.
I love his work ethic and heart, but the real prize is Nathan Horton. At least you know he has legitimate talent.
Clarkson at anything more than 4.5 is a mistake. Horton for 5.5 works for me, though.
Consolation prize: Clowe at 3 per year. This might not actually be a bad move, as it saves us some money to target a center. |

Clarkson is a good person and good citizen of the NHL if he were to sign elsewhere especially Toronto his hard working two way game would become a fan favorite. Dare I say that he would improve the top 6 dramatically! |

Gardiner + Grabovski for Strome? - Cooshie
I really don't want to trade Strome. I think he'll be a great RW to JT |

I doubt he would make a "dramatic" improvement to The Leafs top 6.
Definitely an improvement but not so "dramatic"
We need a true number one centre to get that "dramatic" improvement. |

Meh. He improves the top 9 dramatically, but let's not forget that Kulemin turned in one 30 goal season, too.
JVR, Kessel, Lupul, Kadri, Bozak/Grabo/center we get in the off-season/Kulemin. I assume he bumps Kulemin.
I guess that's a modest upgrade, but the real upgrade is that he bumps Kulemin to a true checking role. |

Of course you don't want to move him but you gotta give to get.
Gardiner is a real big coupe for an unproven prospect - did you see him in the playoffs? The kids was unreal and exactly what you guys need.
Add Grabovski and it would be a pretty good trade for the Islanders to turn down. |

curious to hear an isles fan perspective on this

I only saw game 7 (sorry) of the leafs series so I didn't see him. We have a lot of prospects and I don't expect Garth to trade Strome away but I can sort of see trading Nino. |

Horton is the one more likely to break down not Clarkson, the guy is as tough as nails, imo. |

I don't know what's funnier: Leafs fans suggesting that 24 million only buys you Strome, or Islanders fans shooting it down.
If the Leafs ever offered to save the Isles and pay out DiPi and all we wanted was some prospect who had never played a single NHL game, Wang would be signing that deal 30 seconds after Nonis offered it.
Meanwhile, Nonis would find himself unemployed. |
