I'd say Kessel and Ryan. Then JVR, Kane or Parise. Pretty damn good assortment of wingers. |

Pretty crazy to think that C's like Spezza, Carter, J. Staal, RNH, Thornton and M. Richards are on the outside looking in when Canada has Crosby, Stamkos, Tavares, Toews, E. Staal, Bergeron and Getzlaf + to choose from. |

It's hard to say, and I would never see Jack Johnson making the team.
I had Martin in there, forgot McDone |

Okay, fair enough. In that case, I still think Kulie, Grabo and MacA could be a solid shutdown line. Kind of on the fence for that though. I wonder if Cobourne can play wing instead of Mac. Or shift Grabo to the wing and have Cobourne center it. I'd prefer Joe on the wing though. We'd need to have big bodied wingers along the boards as a shutdown line.
Hell, I'd even say if you gave Komarov a chance to play on the 3rd line shut-down he could surprise us. He can throw a lot first liners off their game. - UsernameUnknown
Colbone??? Shutdown line??? Really?? You want to turn a big bodied skilled center into a 3rd line checking winger?? Do you know who Joe Colborne is?? |

I bet you do..... I don't think Nonis is going to make such a terrible trade. - burn
When the darkness falls, it gets pretty nutty in here. Alot of terrible terrible trade proposals.
We need a UFA top 6 winger with size, preferrably in this order: Horton, Clarkson, Clowe; we need to see what Bozak's asking and if it's too high, we get a Gordon and fill out our bottom 6 with guys suited for the role and let Kadri and Grabovski duke it out for #1 C position. We should be looking for a #2 to play along side Phaneuf if the right opportunity presents itself or we let our young defensemen learn from their playoff experiences, grow another year, and keep on keepin' on, so to speak.
Lupul Bozak/Kadri Kessel
JVR Grabovski/Kadri Horton/Clarkson/Clowe
Kulemin Grabovski/Colborne Frattin
Komarov/McLaren McClement Gordon/Orr
Depending on the situation (and Carlyle's intentions), we can ice a shutdown line at any time consisting of:
Kulemin McClement Gordon
or really any combination of our bottom 6 and possibly a Clarkson or a Clowe as both are up-and-down kind of players that can eat up minutes on the forecheck/cycle.
I'd still prefer Horton due to his age and playoff abilities, streaky or not; I think all three are somewhat of an injury risk as they get older, especially Clowe, but Horton's still a concussion risk; Clarkson seems durable, but for how long?

I actually had a dream last night where the Leafs traded up to 8th and used it to draft Morin. It was pretty lame. |

I really like Franson though, but the way he was playing at the end of the year, I think he has a roster spot secured for you guys. He has a bomb from the point.
Liles would have some value on our team. Signed to a reasonable cap hit, he knows how to run a PP, could be a mentor to young guys like Johnson, Barrie, and Elliott. He has his best years with the Avs, could spark him again - DDM-Coga
Thing I like about Franson the most...guy actually can hit the bloody net *cough* Phaneuf *cough* |

And can play physical when he wants to. He is a keeper on defence, one of only two currently I would keep long term. |
