Im not excited till he is signed by another team.... as of this moment Snow is showing Brad what his jersey would look like with a C on the front.

but he said they are still talking
- Vukota

He's gone. Unless Snow offers him something like 2.5-3 million per for 2 I'm guessing on that one? His agent is probably thinking he could get somewhere around that and he probably could with as thin as this FA class is. I'm thinking(hoping)Snow is a little too smart for that?

Philly I think is over the cap. Unless they do something with bryz they aren't forking over 5 million for Streit. Tampa is looking for D, just a thought. Detroit i could see. He might even be a good fit there?
- Cptmjl

Detroit was my first reaction. They're still searching for a replacement for Lidstrom on the pp. I think Bryz gets bought out under the amnesty clause.

Hope so. I also now think DP stays in the minors for the cap hit unless they dip into the free agent market or make some trades

I'd love seeing him try to poke check at JT while he walks into the slot! Maybe they can pair him up with Chef Bruno for the leagues LEAST intimidating defensive tandem keaner17

With Strome/Nino/Nelson/Lee/Donovan possibles to make #Isles, cap floor won't be a problem.

How is that possible oh wait DP stays

Yep. We all saw this happening with the kids coming up, I have no problem with it as long as these kids are ready for prime time and DP never flops around on Coliseum ice again. In fact I'm excited about it. If he gets a good stay at home Dman I'm cool. The one thing I'm worried about is Capuano honestly and how he coaches these kids. That's my main concern.

While I agree, it would be nice to get rid of him once and for all

Colorado have to pick up rest of family and drive back here to NY. You think I am mental now just wait
- kasperrko

That doesn't sound like much fun. I think i would rather watch last nights game on a continuous loop with Fran Drescher doing the play by play than do that.

Honestly he may have had a point before we acquired john moore at the deadline. But with him in the fold, if we can deal del zotto + for yandle I Think we'll be ok on D.

Tidbits from staples article

Streit, 35, had spoken of wanting to return as the 2013 season wound down, but he and the Islanders are far apart in contract requirements with the July 5 start of free agency looming. The Islanders are believed to have made a three-year offer for the same $4.75 million per season that Lubomir Visnovsky accepted on the eve of the trade deadline (Visnovsky's deal is for two years), but Streit is looking for north of $5.5 million per season.

With the free agent market for defensemen very thin, Streit could command $6 million per year and even possibly get a four-year deal. The Islanders wanted Streit back to keep the continuity Garth Snow has built, but the Isles GM is also not interested in busting his salary structure to keep Streit.

Is he facking kidding me?? How could he ask for that with a straight face?

More #Isles: Team soon to start contract talks with RFAs Josh Bailey and Travis Hamonic, looking for long-term deals with both.

And my sense is #Isles won't be trading for Luongo. Age (34), killer contract not worth giving up any assets for.

- Vukota

Any deal involving Luongo, even a bag of pucks going the other way is not a good one. TSN is like a propoganda machine on Lu. Let him stay in canada. Sadly his best days are behind him too.

Well since you guys now need a veteran defender, take liles for a 7th rounder, plus you will be paying him less than what you were offering streit
