No way I trade B Schenn (or Luke for that matter) or Couts now that both of them have gotten 2 years of NHL experience under their belts... We'd be trading them just as they started coming into their own.

I would reluctantly trade B Schenn in the right deal to upgrade the defense.

I couldn't, not before giving him 1 more season to start to realize the incredibly high potential everybody saw in him when he was drafted.

You guys talked about Homer possibly adding Streit?

It's a difficult decision. And believe me, I don't want him traded. But there may not be a choice. Someone may have to be traded. Not excited in adding Streit. Maybe on a one year deal as a temporary stopgap. But Streit isn't likely to accept that.

With that Keith/Carter thing....

Carter definitely took a shot a Keith's hand. He deserved what Keith TRIED to do, which was give him a whack on the arm. He missed.

You could tell Keith was actually concerned in that replay.

Carter deserved a slash, no doubt.

Yup, no doubt. It would have to be a 1 for 1 deal, and it would have to be a very good player coming back the Flyers way.

I guess, when it comes right down to it, I don't see Homer breaking up the brothers after bringing them together this past year. But, we do know Homer will pull the trigger and do what he thinks is best for the team.

Luckily, we do have a decent number of assets to use, including the #11 pick. And we're less than a month away from finding out what happens.

Streit would look very good on our 2nd PP unit. But you could be right, he might want more than we're willing to give, especially considering he's 35+.

He was also just a couple years removed from a good playoff run that saw him help his team to the SCF in 2007.

The Leighton redux was awful. No question.

it was, even though i was in favor of the move at the time, because i thought he played remarkably well that season in very difficult situations, except of course when the cup was on the line. hindsight is always 20/20 but given their generally mediocre history of goaltending save for a few bright spots, it's a bit maddening that they'd move bob who clearly showed a tremendous amount of potential, even more so because he was undrafted and a bit of a diamond in the rough. i only pray that mason finds his game, because i have little faith that the next move in goal they make will turn out to be the right one.

im not saying it has to be schenn, if you really want to keep the brothers. but say you just rank your flyers forwards in importance. i dont think it is a total implosion of the core to move whoever falls in say fourth place. obviously the higher forward that moves the better the dman coming back would be.

and as far as the whole well it just creates a hole in he forward ranks, that argument can be made for the vast majority of trades. very rarely can a team make a move dealing from such an area of strength that the loss isnt felt at all. the flyers level of forwards is about as close as you can get to that

Just a random thought... Why again did we trade roddy for primeau?

JvR for Luke Schenn is one we just made, and it speaks volumes about drafting BPA in some cases.

Would you kick the tires on seeing what the price tag would be for Rundblad?
- ob18

I pushed for Rundblad at one point last year but after watching play defence I began to have second thoughts. He should be a forward because he is absolutely terrible in his own end.

??? 2nd pp unit ??

Streit would be the key point man on the first unit as he has been for several years now.

I don't see how any of those players in the last paragraph help the Flyers. None of them are likely ever going to be a top pair puck mover. That's the need.
- MJL

Disagree, Diaz could be now and Rundblad is world class puck mover except he can not play Defence.
Streit is a solid person as well as a solid player, go get him homer 4 years at 4.5 mill

Over 35 contract? No way.

I'd get Streit a one year contract at 5.5, or 2 years max. But he'd just be a stop gap and I don't think it would be my plan A.

Flyers would likely keep Timonen and Voracek on the points of the top unit.

Neither of those players are a top pair puck moving defenseman that the FLyers need. Holmgren should be immediately fired if he makes that deal for Streit.

I think it's rather premature to call Rundblad a world class anything. I'd be interested in trading for him, if the price is right, though.
