I just wish draft night were tonight, so we could all argue about how high our draftee's ceiling really is
- Doc_Sarcasm

I'm going to love whoever they draft.

A lot of borderline dirty hits if I recall correctly.
- MJL

If by borderline you mean being suspended 13 times for reasons such as numerous knee on knee hits, then I agree.

Please girl, we're arguing over if I like her new dress that she won't try on and today she's mad because I hacked her facebook account and posted about it. There's no pleasing women.

pffft!

- mayorofangrytown

Think she's mad because you can't tell the difference between her dress and the drapes?

That almost sounds like a crack about her weight...

That could get a man killed young lady.

I think Yuen could go as early as round three. With Kichton, there are more question marks about his ability to translate his junior game to the pros and he's nearly a year older than Yuen, so I think he'll go later.
- bmeltzer

I think Mark Streit will be a flyer next year. He would certainly be the answer the the power play point man. There will be competition for him but Homer will get it done.

If there's competition for him, I hope not. A temporary solution at best. I would not sign him to anything more then a 1 year deal.

Sure hope not. I agree with Brad's post earlier in the thread. Too old (would be an over 35 contract), too expensive, and overrated (close your eyes if you fear the advanced stats) - favorable zone starts vs. easy competition and still couldn't post a positive Corsi rating.

No thank you.

I have to disagree with you here. The reason our forwards had such horrendous stats last year is because other than old Kimmo nobody is capable of great puck moving skills. The pp does not have on dman with any vision that has a big shot, Kimmo included. Streit will probably end up in Montreal if Markov actually retires as rumoured. If Streit signed in Philly Giroux and Voracek would score 15-20 points more in a season. The flyers system sucks for goalies and I am somewhat surprised Hot Lava still has his job, another year of misery coming up until he is canned.

they should have a stat for giveaways directly resulting in goals against
Coburn could finally lead the team in something.

I agree we do not want long term big dollar bidding wars to get him. I would give him a two year deal a 4-5 million in a heartbeat but it is possible this would not cut it.

I'm thinking that its not happening. We're already 3million over the cap. I assume Briere will be bought out. I kind of hope that Bryz gets bought out, but I highly doubt that Comcast is going to want to eat that contract.

I agree totally that the Flyers need to upgrade the puck moving skills of the defense, and could use a PP QB. And Streit would certainly help offensively. But due to his age, he is not a long term solution. If they can't obtain a better option for the long term. Then I'd be okay with someone like Streit for a one year deal. But I would not get into a long term deal with Streit, nor overpay due to the competition that you spoke of.

Take that 3M number with a grain of salt from Capgeek. Not entirely accurate.

Pretty steep, not sure he will get that type a deal in the new salary cap era. I would not believe that totally as I think his real reason for not returning is the Isles signed Lubomir Vishnovsky instead of him and his nose is out of joint. Isles cannot afford the luxory of keeping them both, they were awesome together on the pp unit.

Believe it, he is in a bad UFA market and if you want what he brings in that market a team might just meet his demands.

The market is weak and despite his age, Streit is probably the best available guy. If he's going to get a $6mm cap hit as an over 35, I'd rather try to get Whitney on a two year deal for less cash.

He will probably get it as he is a great puck mover with a big shot. There are many players producing right up to their 40th birthdays these days and Streit could easily play another 3-4 and still be productive.

I would not touch Whitney with a 10' pole. He is a huge injury risk (just what we don't need another of) and was not good enough to crack a Oiler lineup. He would be a huge gamble whereas Streit would be a good pick. Bottom line is you usually get what you pay for.
